18 days to go!!!! Anyway, wewill be arriving at the WL at 10am.
I really care more about having a room early on what is sure to be a hectic day (day before Thanksgiving) than having a specific location. I don't want to fax or anything . I will call and make sure my requests are on my ressie -NS, bunk beds, early check-in.

My question is, could we get stuck with a REALLY bad room this way? I guess if we get in a room and don't like it we can ask to be moved. We are easy to please types. Has anyone had a really bad woods view room???

Since you don’t want to fax, the room assigner will go by how you made your reservation.
The only poor view is Standard View, some/most look over the service area where truck deliveries are made to the Lodge.
All Woodsviews are very good, some higher floor rooms can see the Castle and MK FW.
Enjoy the Magic of WL.

Thought I would throw my experience in here-

We are just back from a WL Woodsview Room- 5097 to be exact. Fifth floor, off the lobby directly above the check in counters.

The 'woodsview' was technically lots of green steel roof (the part of the Lodge that contains the Mercantile and leads out to the busses) and some pine trees (the woods ;) ).

It all depends upon your expectations. I didn't request a specific room and although I was initially disappointed with my view since it wasn't really that inviting to want to sit out on the balcony, I really enjoyed that location. Primary reason was that I could open my door and be met with the awesome lobby and music right there. It made it easy for me in the early morning hours to sneak out of the room (yes, in my pjs) I shared with DD and take pics of the lobby and just lean on the railing and marvel at the Lodge. I loved that! It was also near the elevator which made it easy to get around with out too much extra walking- a plus for the 6 1/2 year old. And it was quiet- even being off the lobby.

I also discovered that I really didn't have much time to sit out on the balcony anyway!

So yes, it seems that woods views may vary and you might actually have a view of the MK or Otter Pond, you also might not. But at least you won't be looking at asphalt or trucks as you might with the Standard rooms.

Hope that helps.

Have an excellent time!!!

We returned last Saturday from 8 nights at the WL. We had a Woodsview room on the first floor (Room 1004). We were in the north wing and if you stepped out onto the patio, you could see the otter pond. Otherwise, all you saw were trees and bushes -- it was very nice.

At first, I was disappointed in being on the first floor, but then we discovered how convenient it was to everything. We were near a door to the pool area and boat to the MK and a short walk from Roaring Forks for our frequent soda runs with our refillable mugs. It was also great when I strained my back late in our trip and walking and waiting for anything was painful. (I'm pretty much recovered.)

We did not spend much time in our room or on the patio. Because of that, I contemplated whether paying for the Woodview was worth it. But, I guess it was since it was much nicer to see trees than to see the service area.

I had the same view as Campinggal. We were on the 4th floor above check-in and I was suprised they considered it a woods view, I even asked to make sure we didn't get put in a standard view. Anyway, the location was just perfect and not noisy at all. Bottom line... So so view of the woods but an excellent view from outside your front door.

WL calls themWoodsview, when we are reccommending a room, those are refered to as Lobby. There are also some over WC.
The true Woodsview rooms are the outside of the North wing, building B, request "Otter Pond" to be there.

This summer we had an o.k. woods view room, but not a bad one. We were on the ground floor on the otter pond side but were almost at the end of the corridor, so we could not see the pond unless we stepped off the concrete patio into the grass because of the privacy dividers between the patios. I didn't spend much time there anyway as there was always a man on the next patio smoking cigars. However, a ground floor room is very convienent in many other ways, so it was alright.

We have received every single request for every single resort at WDW except "north wing" at WL. We did get the NS, quiet area and bunk beds but we got southwing. Our view was fine and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony. My only complaint was having to listen to all the "bus people" who felt compelled to ring some bell each time they walked by it! And we were far from that area. We had a view of the villa's. We were the last room before the building "jutted" out for the last section. 4th floor I think-it was NS at the time.

I also had the "woodsview" room that was pretty much a green roof with "woods" in the distance. I also asked was it a standard view room!!! Try to get on the side with the otter pond.

Okay, I will definitely be faxing!!!!! I am thinking that a lot of people will be checking in that day/evening. if I am there in the am, there is no reason I can't get a decent view. I'll just wait for my room!

Unless of course the NS, bunk bed rooms in the area you want are already full from the night before:eek: ! I think that is why we did not get the North wing. We got all the other requests which were more important to us, so be sure to list them in order! And we were there mid Dec and resort was not full at all. We were there at noon and could not get the room until 3. We looked at Christmas decor at the various resorts during this time. Good luck and enjoy WL! We will be at AKL while you are there!:D

Requests are never a guarantee. They certainly try their best, but then everyone checking in wants the best view. Makes it hard to please everyone. It will also depend on how many are checking out and what is actually available to give you. Also you might be limiting your view by wanting NS, bunk beds and certainly early check in.

Good Luck, I think any woods view is a good one.

A room request is just that a request. List the most important wish first. Over 90% of WL is non-smoking. If you are checking in early, you can have Bell services put your luggage in storage while you check in and then you can go to a park.

Maybe I'm darn lucky...But I always book standard view and I have never been disappointed. I always seem to end up with what I assume is a Woods view. My last visit to WL I requested the highest floor and wound up with a room on the 5th floor overlooking some trees and Magic Kingdom fireworks!! The visit before that, I requested a standard view and got a room overlooking the stream that starts in the lobby. Most of the time, I get a view of a bunch of trees. I don't know if it's because I visit during "value" season, but I've never had a view of the driveway, bus stops or garbage cans!

I am sure you won't be disappointed!

I just got back from WL last weekend..I had a fabulous woods view room (5034).. On my initial reservation, I requested 5th floor, otter pond, NS. Then 3 days out, I faxed my request.

I got exactly what I requested with a fantastic view of the castle and fireworks..and I did get to see the elusive otter two times. I loved utilizing my balcony, especially cause Ive lived in an apartment my entire life with no balc. (Very typical of NYC dwellers)

The WL is a magical place..Enjoy:wave2:
