Is there a April 2008 code watch thread? **This seems to be it!!

Sorry for sounding stupid but is P&P the Princess and Pirate party? and if so, what night did you book?

We're going the 18th to the 28th and I only had problems getting ADRs on the P&P night during my trip, plus I got one at a slightly less obvious location (Whispering Pines) for that night. I think the earlier weeks are just going to be high volume like any year.

The conventional wisdom seems to be that April is bad until the middle of the month and then it lightens up considerably. We'll see if that holds this year. We were there for the same break last year, and it was busy but not horrible. Lots of Brits and Bostonians (maybe we can christen it "New and Old England Week" a la Jersey week, lol). With a little planning and a moderate dose of UG tricks, we did fine.

We're staying offsite for a week unless the code is an amazing deal. If the code is just okay, I'll book the first three nights at WL or another MK resort. If there's no code (or if everything is sold out), it's offsite the whole time. Just waiting to figure out which it will be... :surfweb:

Dur, yes, Princess and pirate party--I probably used the wrong acronym. I definitely got the name of the restaurant wrong--Whispering CANYON CAFE is what I meant.

I've put in for a brain transplant.

I *think* I'm right when I say that the word on the street is that the Pirate and Princess Party will likely be on the 23rd. There are a bunch of nights when the MK is set to close at 7 that are NOT grad nights, and apparently they briefly had an announcement of parties on these dates up on the DVC site, but then they were taken down. It's seems to be widely believed among unofficial sources that these will be announced as parties soon. Based on the fact that I got ADRs easily with my choice of times throughout my vacation, but that Chef Mickey's AND Ohana were booked solid all night that night, I'm thinking others may be thinking the same.

OK then we share the same brain because I looked at the Calender yesterday and thought the same thing. We are there 4/16-4/23 and we are going to try to get tickets for the 16th..it would be cutting it close since our flight gets in around 5pm BUT I already got my DS and nephew a pirate costume (that DH probably will make fun of) and DD is bringing her Cinderella costume anyway for her appointment at the BBB and lunch CRT.

I'm positive codes are a marketing strategy, not a gurantee. I understand they could book to 100 percent, but if they do I know there will not be any codes. That's just how tourism works. If they do I won't go.

I don't know that the CMs will give me accurate numbers, I would think they would forbidden from giving out their vacancy rates. It's a good sales tactic to say buy now or you may not be able to though.

Codes are never guaranteed and they may be different every time. For example the summer of 2006, you could only get a discount on Epcot Deluxes. In 2007, it was Epcot Deluxes, all mods and some DVC resorts.

CMs at the reservation calling center work on commission. They have a quota of reservations to get in in a certain amount of time, and some of them will tell you whatever they can come up with to make you book a room immediately.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. I'd hate to think that a CM would lie but I know a few people that work on commission, and they'd say anything to make a sale. :sad2:

I was just trying to help, didn't want to see any DIS'ers miss out on any Disney fun. :thumbsup2

I appreciate your worrying for us :). Just explaining my reasoning, but I definately understand the other way of thinking too! If I would go without the code anyways, I'd book now for sure.

I wasn't sure they had quotas, but I thought they did. Most any travel agent or anything similar does or has commission.

:surfweb: searching for a code :rolleyes1 waiting for a code :sad2: wanting a code :scared: needing a code :bored: Think we'll get a code? :scratchin Trying to be cool about it.... :cool1:

Don't know what the code was, but the very helpful CM helped me with my ressies. It took her 15 minutes, but she kept trying to find a discount for me. She saved me $350.00 off of my April trip (7 nights at POR with deluxe dining). :cool1: :dance3: I did have to change my check-in date to April 7 from April 5, but it was worth it to save $350.00. The only problem was that I had ressies at CRT and BBB on April 6. Breaks my heart to cancel those, and it disappointed my 3 little princesses. :guilty: :sad2: I have not been able to rebook CRT for another day that week, so I have ADR for PSB on April 8. :yay: I had thought about just paying OOP for CRT and BBB and staying just one night at offsite hotel, but that would not be very productive (kind of wipes out our $350.00 savings, and hubby would not be too happy!). We are also planning a trip to POR in June, and the CM told me to be on the lookout for passholder/FL resident rates to come out soon for our dates.

I'm looking for my co worker I'd love to surprise her with either an upgrade in hotel or park tickets. I got a ticket upgrade for my Feb trip . Will you let me know about both upgrade codes Thanks

I am waiting for a code too but don't have much hope. I already reserved my room for April 19 through the 26 at POP. I never even knew codes existed before coming here! LOL.

So far all the other discounts and codes don't include my travel dates. :sad1:

I am actually starting to get a little worried about the crowds april 19-26th. Almost of AAA is gone in values/mods and the DVC resorts are completely booked in stuidos/1bd. Any thoughts?

Speaking for my family, this is the only time of year we can go (17th on). We do not have the ability to change our dates at all. So, we are just concentrating on working out good tour plans from Passporter and the Unofficial Guide. I keep telling my DW that worrying will not change who else comes at the same time. Right now, I only want to make sure that all our ADRs are made. As long as we have a place to sleep and eat together, our DF (Disney Family) will enjoy whatever else happens.

It could be worse, you could not be going.;)

I agree. I HOPE that crowds aren't too bad but I don't think I will care once I am there! There will be too much to distract me. I read this is a good time to go so here's hoping for the best!

Maybe everyone just read the same stuff I did, LOL.

I'm going the same week! I tried to reschedule some ADRs and was told that that week was entirely booked for most resturants! I'm dreading the craziness!

We might stay at a friend's timeshare, but they only have 4 nights available so we'll have to pay extra for 2 days or stay at a Disney resort for big bucks or find a cheap hotel for a few days.

I'm kind of bumbed because the timeshare is offsite and I really don't like to stay out of the park. I know I know we'll save like $1000 doing it, but after driving 2400miles down I'd rather be pampered the entire trip by Disney.

Hey, we're going April 18 thru 26 at POP, too. I've been hoping for a code because I would like to upgrade to a mod. We have all our ADR's and I didn't have any trouble with the times I wanted. I called to check on the codes and there were none for me, but the CM said to keep checking my mail. Isn't the DIS great?:disrocks:

Yes it is great!!!! I feel like I have learned so much :thumbsup2

I would also like the code just to upgrade to a moderate. I really would like to stay at POR. I also have all our ADRs and didn't have any trouble and only started planning at the beginning of the month!

Do you have any little ones coming with you? It will be me, my husband, and our 2 1/2 year old son. I am so excited!
