Had to cancel April Vacation. I just got a new job and was unable to get April off for vacation. I've rescheduled for last week in August. I hope all the April people have a great time. I wish I was going too. My vacation just went for being 144 days away to being 282 days away.

Disney sends out codes, by post card, e-mail or to the general public. This code might save you a % off your room. Might be a savings off an economy, a moderate or deluxe depending on the code.

I hope I'm telling you correctly!

You can use them through TAs. Hopefully you have one thats semi disney competent though so you don't have to walk them through it.

Sorry about April, Riverhill, but no worries about August. Our last few trips have been late August, and we have experienced very low crowds and GREAT discounts, to knock down the already "low" value season rates. We are trying April this year because we can't do the last week of August anymore, at least for several more years (kids now involved in high school sports). Just be flexible and go with the flow! Plus, the anticipation is so much fun!

This morning I received a pin code with a e-mail titled

____(name)______ Family, your Disney Dream is here!

It said my vacation planning DVD was on its way and that the code was good for the time I plan to travel.

Well it isn't good for the time I am planning on going. My dates havent changed from when I signed up for the dvd.

The code is good for select dates... Some this year for 82 $ a night in a value and then 20% off other dates next year.

I'm here waiting too - currently, we have a 2-bed villa at VWL booked for 3 nights with DVC discount but it is still a massive whack of cash for those 3 nights. I'm hoping for a decent enough AP rate so we can get rooms at a moderate or value instead for thsoe 3 nights

Is there a Complete Idiots Guide to Planning Your Disney Vacation- LOL!?!

My husband just got his vacation pick last night, so we are looking at the last weekend in March- so like Mar 30- April 6, maybe? We have 2 kids who will be 8 and 5 when we go.

Several people recommended this board, so here I am!

Hopefully, I can muddle my way through this without losing my mind!

The unnoficial guide to Walt Disney World is great, so is "The Passporter" Series. Ive used them both, it's hard to say whats better. I would actually recommend just the boards unless you want to have something in front of you, obviously though it lacks the dynamics.

First off, figure out which resort you want to stay at probably! Good luck

Well, I think the All Star Movies will be the one that the kids will be most thrilled with, so I'm going with that.

Is it better to book whole package, or start with resort or what?!? Reading about possible discounts scares me from making a move and then crying later when I see that I could have saved money!

Money is, of course, a factor! We are using our tax refund, so want to make every dollar count! We went on our honeymoon- 15 years ago- and booked everything through a travel agent. Now, I hear so many different things- don't go through Disney package deals, do go through Disney package deals, book resort separate, don't book......kwim?

I picked up the Unofficial Guide to WDW with Kids atthe library, so I'll be reading that first, I guess. The meal plan thing throws me because our kids will be 8 & 5 and are picky eaters! We never did character meals when it was just dh and I, so don't know anything about those. Everyone says make reservations- can you do that before you book your rooms?
