Is there a AAA FAQ thread?

We are currently booked at the rack rate for Disney's GF in October. We have MYW with Dining and Park Hoppers. In looking for a better rate for our trip (this is going to cost us a small fortune) I came across a little information about AAA.

I'm wondering if it would be worth it to switch and even if we can. So, here are my questions.

Does the AAA discount apply to GF?

What is the amount of discount that you get?

I know Free dining isn't allowed with the discount but we are actually paying for our MYW dining passes...can we still use this option?

Can I simply apply the discount or do I have to cancel my booking with Disney and then call AAA and book with them?

Finally, is it usually worth it to use AAA.

We are driving down from CT and we need to stay at a hotel on the way down. We also have to stay in a Kissimmee hotel for a couple of days (my cousin is getting married in Kissimmee) before we check into Disney. And my DH wants to stay in a hotel the night that we check out of Disney so that we are bright eyed and bushy tailed for the trip back. So:

We will have a hotel room somewhere around South Carolina for one night.
2 nights of a Kissimmee hotel.
5 days of Disney GF
1 night at an Orlando hotel.

Im thinking using AAA might help us out a little with this trip.

Any help would be appreciated, we are really new at this. This is our first time staying on Disney property and our kids first time at Disney ever. (Plus its our anniversary :cool1: ). So, I'd like to make the trip as special as possible (with a 3 year old, a monorail resort was very important to us) but not COMPLETELY break our bank.

Yes

In Oct it is 10% at the deluxes

To get the AAA discount on your room with a package you would have to cancel with Disney and rebook thru AAA. You can book AAA room only discounts (not packages) directly with Disney.

Finally, is it usually worth it to use AAA.
We think so. Our vehicles are out of warranty and it gives us piece of mind while driving. We also use it for hotel stays all over the country and for local discounts too! We get discounts on various attractions, museums, golf, auto services and even some coupon books for area malls. You get all the info from your local AAA. It might be worth it just to stop in your local office and get the information.

Is the 10% off of the entire package or is it a room only discount.

For instance if we are paying $4000 is it $400 off or do we have to subtract our MYW with dining and park hopper tickets and then take the 10% off?

Also, regarding regular hotels not on Disney property: Is the AAA discount a standard percentage regardless of the hotel or does it depend on which hotel you are staying at. (I.E. would you get the same percent off of a Hilton hotel as a Marriott or would they be different)

Sorry for all the questions...but I promise this will be the last AAA question I post.

The AAA discount is on the room portion only. Regarding other hotels, each individual hotel sets it's own discounts so you would have to look them up on the net or give them a call.

eh, I figured that was for the room only. Still, it seems to be worth it to me...membership is about $60 and it will save me $240 just for the Disney stay, not to mention the random hotels we need to stay at along the way.

Thanks for all the help guys!!!

You shouldn't have to rebook through AAA, just call Disney and ask them to apply the discount to your room.

I will definately try that first...thanks for posting. I really wasn't looking forward to all the juggling...and I would have to go through AAA before I cancelled my Disney booking becasue I don't want to be left completely without a room.

So, after I sign up for AAA I'll call Disney and see if they can help me first.
