is there 12 GOOD restaurants on DDP?

We are going in August, we have had ADR's booked, and then I change them for ages, we are there for 14 nights so have quite a bit to play with.
the ones we are sure on
1 le cellier
2 narcooses
3 planet hollywood
4 chef mickey breakfast
5 tepan edo
6 Ohana's
7 Hoop de doo review
8 Sanaa

Ones we are unsure about are
1 whispering canyon Cafe (we already eating at Ohanas and HDD so is this going to be a not as good version?)
2 Tokyo dining, (we do like the idea of here but we are eating here for lunch and have le cellier in the evening? we are having a couple of days out of disney so we have spare credit, would ppl recomend here or the Coral reef or neither??)
3 The Wave. (we wanted a restaurant near MK so we can have early tea and then off to MK late night. We would prob have gone to Tony Roma's in MK but couldn't get a resrvation.)

We don't really like buffets as we are not big eaters (we are getting the dining plan for free.) We do like nice food in nice places. I am a fish fanatic, and my husband likes his Meat, particually steak.

Can anyone help with ideas or reassure me that these are ok?? particually whispering canyon cafe, and choice between TD and CR

I really enjoyed the coral reef. The short ribs were yummy.

That being said, I would not book a TS lunch the same day as a TS dinner. Too much food, especially since your TS dinner will be Le Cellier. Why not add a meal the same day as your Chef Mickies breakfast? That way you have a chance to rest your stomach.

Also, if you like fish, and have spare credits, how about the Flying Fish Cafe in the Boardwalk? I cannot remember if they are on the DP, if they are it is a signature restaurant and will take two credits. I have not eaten there but I hear it is very good and is on my wish list.

Oh, and skip WCC if you are looking for a show. The servers antics are casual and can be hit and miss. You'll get a great show at HDDR.

Narcoosee's and Planet Hollywood are the only 2 I've eaten at-we loved Narcoosee's. That's a great place for steak and seafood. Flying Fish is also a good place for that.

Planet Hollywood on the other hand is just ok. I've eaten at several and they're nothing special, and the food is literally just eh. I'd pick somewhere else in DTD to eat.

If you really would like to eat in or around MK, try for Crystal Palace in the park.

If you aren't big eaters I would suggest some signature dining such as Flying Fish, Citricos, Narcoossies, or California Grill. These take two dining credits, but are well worth it!

We've eaten at all of the above and you can't go wrong with any of them. We found that the original dining plan was too much food for us so we cancelled some of our regular table services and substituted some signature dining. Now we are hooked.

From you list, I counted 10 credits (HDDR & Narcoosee are 2 each). So, you have 4 left.

Not been to the Wave, but liked Tokyo dining. But, Tokyo dining is close to restaurants in home town and Coral Reef is similar to Aquarium rest in Nashville (about 2 hours away), so we usually go elsewhere.

Turf Club at SSR has a great Prime Rib. Olivia's at OKW has good steak and seafood. If you are looking for more signature dining, I would avoid flying fish. We were there 2 weeks ago and it was yuck. Jiko is a great signature dining option at AKL. Also, Yachtman's steakhouse is a signature dining at Beach Club that has great steaks. Or, if you want more dinner shows (2 TS), there is the Sprit of Aloho Dinner (luau) at Poly with alcohol included like at HDDR. Finally, have you considered Cinderella's Royal Table? It is 2 TS and you get to eat in the castle.

And your post just goes to prove what I am always saying....you are always going to get varied reviews about the exact same restaurant.
My dh and I love Flying Fish..have yet to have a less than wonderful meal there. But, I wasn't overwhelmed with Jiko....loved the flatbread pizza, but my beef was very fatty and I had to leave about 50% uneaten,. And Yachtsman completely ruined my steak...asked for it to be cooked medium rare, got medium well....just like the person next to me ordered hers.
I do want to try the Turf Club though..may have to add that to my next trip.

Since you like fish, I would definitely check out Coral Reef. I had the Pan Seared Seasonal Catch with Mushroom Scallop Risotto last year and might I just say My favourite meal of our trip!~

Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, The Wave at the Contemporary and The Grand Floridian Cafe all have good steaks & good seafood choices. All are on the monorail, so convenient to Magic Kingdom days...and all 3 are 1 TS credit on the dining plan. Have eaten at all these places, more than once, and good food/good service.

We also like Turf Club at Saratoga Springs if you're at Downtown Disney...also at Downtown Disney, The Wolfgang Puck Cafe is very good & one credit on the dining plan. Raglan Road is also very good, and great entertainment if you're there around 7:30 - 8:00. Have eaten at all of these, and again good food/good service.

Tokyo dining has never appealed...sounds too much like what we can get at any local restaurant. We enjoyed Coral Reef...and if you're not big eaters, that should work because we found the serving sizes at Coral Reef to be about the smallest on property - good food, but small servings. The aquarium makes it a very unique dining experience, so I would definitely vote for Coral Reef over TD. We also enjoy San Angel Inn (not Tex-Mex Taco Bell food--more like a Mexican steak house.) And we liked Rose & Crown, Les Chefs de France...all of those are also on the dining plan at 1 TS credit.

I'd definately take Planet Hollywood OFF that list! The food/service there is the pits. Had a near raw piece of chicken when we went and my husband's hamburger was frozen in the middle. Gross.

How about Boma or Jiko at the AKL or the Flying Fish over at the Boardwalk? Food is consistently great at each of these restaurants!

I have seen that on the disney website "paradiso 37" is listed as being on the DDP but it isn't on allears, haven't heard much about this place? Have been to WP at DTD and thought it was the worst food we had ever had in america. Thought it was about what you would expect from a petrol station selling little packets of sushi!! yuck!!!

I think I will just have to chose between Kona Cafe, the wave and NOW the grand floridian cafe for our night when we want to eat near MK.

and then between Coral Reef and Tokyo dining for lunch at epcot
or opt for a 2 credit meal on our other night, so would have to decide between

whispering canyon cafe, les chefs de france, or
Citricos, Cali grill.

Oh dear!!! think I have just made it harder for myself!!!
I have asked the other 2 adults that are coming with me to have a look at the menus and locations etc and give me their thoughts but will have to wait and see if they actually get back to me!!!

Coral Reef- we have loved this place for years and only had 1 iffy meal. Service can be a bit slow with certain servers.

I vote for Boma. It is on our list EVERY time! Planet Hollywood was, um, not great. Beirgarten in Germany, and Cape May come to mind.

I like Chefs de france. The macaroni is excellent. We liked WP at DTD. but didn't try the sushi there.

Even though you are not big eaters, either are we, this buffet is not to be missed. The food is great and what is also fantastic is the hotel itself. You can see all the artifacts from Africa, wander around the outside area and you can actually see the animals. Your kids will love it. The lobby is incredible with rich wood and bright colors. It is an experience in itself.

Have to agree. Flying Fish is always an extraordinary experience, IMO. Jiko delivers on appetizers, but falters on main courses. Yachtsman was ok - not very accommodating, but if you're there at sunset, the view is beautiful.

With that many credits, I would visit Boma for sure. We're not buffet lovers, but we do LOVE Boma. Plus, strolling around the AKL at night is an adventure unto itself. We also liked Rose & Crown in Epcot. Cape May Cafe for breakfast is a favorite, and again, we're not big on buffets, but it's a great character experience, laid-back, with good, plentiful, fresh breakfast food.

It seems like you're looking for "experiences" and not just dining. Have you considered Sci-Fi or 50s Prime Time in DHS?

P.S. I agree with the PP who advised against TS lunch back to back with a TS dinner. We did this on one trip, and just didn't enjoy it.
