Is the weather in September really that bad??

I go in Sept. just about every trip, I have been in March, April, May, August, September and late October but for some reason Sept. seems to be my go to time. I'm from Georgia so the heat and humidity don't bother me and I actually prefer to be outside in it then inside in the AC. The only trip I've made in over 30 years when it didn't rain at least once was this past March and it had started to sprinkle when we were leaving on the last day. It does get a little sticky after a rain but it's a great time to be a kid and jump in puddles. I'm one of those that does not go back to the resort in the middle of the day to avoid the heat, I'm not a park open to park close type of person so if I'm enjoying myself and it's the middle of the day I just stay and enjoy. I also don't run for the inside when it rains, I always either have an umbrella or a rain jacket that goes all the way down to my feet and has a hood with a drawstring so I just put on my jacket and enjoy. It will be hot, it most likely will rain, enjoy.

We went the last week or September last time we went (2014) and it was super hot, and rainy. We made the best of it. If it rains bring a poncho, and do indoor things, a ton of people leave so lines aren't horrible. On hot days though, it is HOT. We prefer rainy to hot.

We went ONCE in September. Was worse than when we were there last year in June during a hot spell. SOOOOO humid! Even at night it was so humid which made it feel so hot, you literally sweated constantly.

Our upcoming trip is September 1-10 and I just assumed the hottest weather of the summer would be over by then. But now I'm hearing it the nastiest month for heat/humidity/storms etc. Let me know! Thanks!

Take it from this deep south girl - not any noticeable difference in heat/humidity than August, and as far as storms, also about the same. Some of the worst hurricanes/storms/rains we have experienced are usually Aug/Sept. But, as for anything, there 'are' exceptions to the rule - just can never 'count' on anything.

For what it's worth, I'm from Oklahoma and early September is miserably hot and muggy here, too, with temps still in the high 90s. BUT, the difference is that we really only brave it going to and from the car, not walking around all day in a theme park.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Insert 'Louisiana' for Oklahoma and we know just what you mean - also Florida!! :)

That's what a lot of people seem to forget. I love the heat - can't take the cold - but staying out in the parks for hours in the high heat/humidity is much, much different than going from car to AC and vice versa!! We've done Disney a few times in summer months - dh says no more!!

Unfortunately, my wife has banned any August/September travel to Disney. She is a humidity wimp. I don't mind it. We live in Chicago and it can get hot and humid here (not as bad as Florida). I agree with previous posters, be prepared! Ponchos, water, and mid-day breaks are a must. Get a good pair of shoes that won't soak up water. My favorite drink for hydration is coconut water. It's like natural Gatorade but better.

On the positive side, the crowds will be less as kids are back in school.

In my opinion, the best time is Nov-Dec (avoiding the insane holiday weeks). The temperature and humidity decreases significantly. Plus, the parks are decorated for Christmas.

We have gone that exact time of year a few times. Yes it is hot, but we have lucked out with really low crowds. If it is hot and you are fighting masses of people to get places, then it is miserable (at least to me). Because the crowds were low, I don't find it to be too bad. We did take afternoon breaks at the pool each day. Have fun!

Last September was hot...every day was in the 90s. But we had great luck with rain...we saw very little of it. The low (relatively of course) crowds made up for the heat and humidity and it was a great trip.

OP, it depends on where you're from. I suspect anyone from the south will be used to the heat and humidity and not be bothered. I'm from the north, and was miserable during out September trip.

(Contrarily, folks talk about being cold in Florida's December and that's still warm to me.)

One thing I will say though is don't worry about the rain. I stressed about it, and we ended up being there the five days it didn't rain in September. But if it does rain, it's okay -- you've got options and with a poncho and a good Disney attitude (it's still better in Disney) you can do just fine.

I live in Phoenix. Very used to the extreme heat. However, FL heat and humidity is FAR worse. The old saying about Phoenix being a dry heat is true!

On the extreme heat days we went early in the morning for a few rides then spent the afternoon with indoor shows, went to lunch often outside the parks then returned early evening to the parks.

it can be really hot, and it probably will be. We went the weekend after Labor Day last year, and it was pretty hot, but it wasn't unbearable. We then went back from Oct. 31-November 11, and to be honest, it was even hotter then than it was in September, so you really never know.

We have gone the last 5 years in September and we love it ! Its humid but its not terrible maybe the light crowds helps us get past the humidity. Going back again this September and can not wait !

Yes, it's pretty hot, humid, rainy...having said that we often go that time of year and make it through. It'd def. not the time to go if you're going for weather, but it's not impossible.

We love September! Is it hot, yes, but definitely not oppressive. At least we didn't think so. I've been when it's 32 degrees in December and I hated that. I would rather it hot, less crowded. There are so many ways to get cool like rides, restaurants, shops, shows, pool. I love September!

It is HOT and humid. I always carry a mister fan. Then again I cant stand being hot at all.

I went one time in September, it was way too hot and humid for me. Will never go again in September.

We'll be there 9/13-18th! We're from South Louisiana, and vacation in Florida every summer. Our usual WDW visit months are late May and late November. I'm just hoping the hurricanes stay away! o_O

Walking outside is like walking into a sauna, its very hot and humid. We always go at the end of August into the beginning of Sept and I just prepare for the heat. I hate it but we can't really go any other time of year so it is what it is. Just wear moisture wicking clothes, use frogg toggs and misting fans.

We have been a few times in September and it was incredibly hot and humid, but we were lucky in that it hardly rained other than a few brief afternoon showers. We melted but would go again because the crowds are so light.

We went last year around the end of September (25-29), and I have never felt heat and humidity like it before in my life. It was brutal and at times unbearable. We experienced 1 afternoon shower/thunderstorm. Crowd levels were good-moderate. Just go in prepared, everyone has a different tolerance for the heat!:)
