Is the Wave OK for kids?

I booked an ADR for the Wave for dinner in August but am having second thoughts. We have a DS11, DS7 and DD7. We are doing a bunch of the character dinners as well as the buffets at Boma, WCC, and Ohana. Wasn't sure if The Wave was OK for the kids or would I be better off booking Trails End or Turf Club (we haven't eaten at these and were looking to have dinner outside the parks at resorts). Thoughts?

I asked that question a few weeks ago and was told by pretty much everyone that every restaurant at Disney is kids friendly if your reseervation is not too late in the evening. I know that I booked it for 6:30 for my dh and 4 yo triplet this coming May

I'd say your fine. My younger brother was 8 when we went and they accomedated him very well, for such an upscale (imo) place. Have fun!!!

We have been taking our kids to the wave since it opened My favorite Disney resturant, they are now 7 and 5. All rest's are kid friendly.. including The Wave ~ I recommend the sustainable fish w/edemame stew and cilantro chutney MMmmmmmmm
even the menu has kids punch drinks and other kid friendly stuff Go and enjoy!

I guess that we are the odd family out. We didn't care for the wave and it was not just the kids. We didn't care for what we had,might be one of the worst resturants for our family. We didn't care for the food or the restaurant as a whole.
I am gad everyone else likes it maybe it was just a bad night. I hope you enjoy!

We love the Wave. ...and so does dd. They have plenty of kid's options and some great items on their regular menu. This is a great restaurant if you are health conscious. Yet all of the food I've had here is extremely fresh and tasty.

They have a nice variety of food for all meals. I think the food is MUCH better quality than TEB (Trails End) or Turf Club (been to both of those, just ate at TEB a few weeks ago). The food at these restaurants is VERY different. At one time I liked TEB but there are so few healthy options other than the salad bar that I was not all that thrilled with it our last visit.

It really depends on what you're looking for. The kids menus are similar for both TC and the Wave. I believe both have pizza and grilled chicken. The chefs at the Wave are very flexible. I'm sure they will fulfill any special requests as long as they have access to that particular food item.

We started eating at the Wave about 4 mths after it opened. Dd was 9 then and still asks to go back every time we go (and I always considered her a picky eater). Feel free to check out my review with photos at the link below.

Dh, DS (12), and I tried The Wave last November, and we all absolutely loved our experience and the meal!

Avocado and citrus salad -- fresh, flavorful, and light.

Chicken and wild rice soup (DS had this for his appetizer and devoured it!)

Sea bass -- DH and DS both had this, and both gave it two thumbs up.

Oven roasted chicken with potato waffle -- my dinner; incredible!

American Flavors dessert sampler -- divine!

Hope I've encouraged you to give it a try!

It is fine for kids, my 3 year old has been several times. The Wave is one of the best restaurants on property!

No problem for children. I think it's good to give them a variety of dining experiences, after all, life isn't all character meals. Although we weren't overly impressed by our dining experiences there we are planning on returning again in the future. I think part of our problem was a very unDisneylike server who was more like a typical, impersonal diner waitress. I was disappointed in my chicken pot pie entree, but would like to go back and try some of the other good looking dishes that I've seen posted here.

since we are also about an hour west of Boston, don't think that's gunna happen But we are now considering going twice next trip instead of once!!!

My thoughts are if you think your kids would like the food on the menu then I say go for it! We loved the Wave, been there twice and both times we saw lots of families there

I ate there last year with a 4.5 year old and a 3 year old. The restaurant was great. My kids were not because they were overexcited from their first full MK day. It probably would have gone over better with them later in the trip. Anyway, they were kind of noisy/riled up but no one really cared. The waitress was very nice to them. There were plenty of other kids in the restaurant too. Our reservation was on the early side. I don't remember what time, but I would guess that it was around 6 PM. DH had the fish dish that PP posted and it was AMAZING. I had a pasta which was great too.

Well, the *only* good thing for those of us in this neck of the woods NOT having imminent travel plans is that we don't have to worry about a storm coming along and wreaking havoc on our flights, right?

Glad you liked the photos, and I hope you do love The Wave as much as we do; I could definitely eat there twice in one trip!

All venues with the exception of Victoria and Albert's are kid friendly. It comes down to what you think your family will enjoy. Take your kids to a nice restaurant where you live and figure out whether it's something you want to try on vacation. The Wave is not an upscale restaurant and you won't need to have everybody prim and proper in their seats. Bistro de Paris, as a contrast, is a place where kids are going to need to be accustomed to sitting still through a meal and maintain inside voices.

Thanks for the all the words of wisdom. I think I am sold on giving it a try and keeping my ADRs the way they are - sometimes I've been known to over-think things.

And that dessert looks amazing!! So going to try that!
