Is the water at WDW okay if you "doctor" it?

DH wants to carry powdered drink mix to add to WDW water. Would probably be peach tea and lemonade mix. I have heard that FL water is horrid. Will the drink mixes make the water tolerable?

We used sugar free kool-aide and lemonaide mixes on our last trip and kept it in a small cooler in the room. It was great! We could not tell at all.

This may cover up the taste a bit, but you will still be able to taste a distinct "flavor". I've never really tried it so it might work well enough to tolerate.

The problem may not be taste, but rather your ability to digest it. It gave my son terrible stomach cramps and many trips to the bathroom. We just learned to drink bottled water.

We never have any problem with the water - I guess it depends on what you are used to.

Same here, I find it fine as long as it is cold.

We used the Britta portable sports bottle. It has the filter in it and you just fill it up with tap water. I still liked bottled water better, but it was definately cheaper and doable. I bought mine at Longs for 10.00 and we still use it.

Just a heads up that we found the resort water to be terible this year. We were at the WL, but I truly do not rememeber this problem at other resorts in the past. We had taken some bottled water but had planned to drink and use tap water in the room. We were not happy to even use it for teeth brushing! Ended up buying jugs of water in the gift shop!!

Oh, forgot.

Water in resturants and counter service is just fine and I drank it all the time. Free too.

We used the Brita water bottles and they worked fine. Definitely cut the "Florida" taste of the water. Also much cheaper than the bottled water!

I would not say that it is "Florida" water as my water in N. FL is completely different than that at WDW.;) I have read that their water has that odor from time to time as part of the cycle they use. Not sure any more about it. But it is not a 3rd world country down there ;) , and I am sure it would have to say "not potable" if it was "bad". Water in many states tastes "different" to me when I travel and we seem to prefer our own. I think this is true of most people. Last few trips the water was just fine, I do remember one trip where it had that odor.
Not sure how it would taste with powdered mixes-worth a try! :D But be prepared with a back up plan just in case you don't like it. :D

Disney uses well water. They process it first and then they ship it all through out the parks. Every location uses the same water service.

As Jordan's Mom said, water at restaurants and counter service is free and if you ask nicely, you get a large cup. We always like to add something to make the water taste better. An aspirin bottle, tupperware salt shaker or other small container filled with Crystal Light or other concentrated mix works great. Use the concentrated in a small container (fits great in a pack) and the container is closeable so it doesn't spill.

i actually like the water cold from the drinking fountains....never caused me any problems...

Another Brita sports bottle user here. got mine at Walmart (in plumbing of all places) for under $7.

I don't know. I heard there's something in the water down there that makes you come home with a little "souvenir";) I think I'll drink bottled, thank you!!:p

We have no problems drinking the water in Orlando. Based on the other posts, this seems to be a matter of individual taste, so I'd say bring your powder and see how it goes. Maybe you won't have any problem with the water down in the World. Maybe you'll hate it and the powder won't "save" you. It doesn't seem to me that you will be able to know in advance.

Here is something interesting about bottled water.
"A World Wildlife Fund (WWF) study confirmed the widespread belief that consumers associate bottled water with social status and healthy living.

Their perceptions trump their objectivity, because even some people who claim to have switched to bottled water "for the taste" can't tell the difference: When Good Morning America conducted a taste test of its studio audience, New York City tap water was chosen as the heavy favorite over the oxygenated water 02, Poland Spring and Evian.

Many of the "facts" that bottled water drinkers swear by are erroneous. Rachele Kuzma, a Rutgers student, says she drinks bottled water at school because "it's healthier" and "doesn't have fluoride," although much of it does have fluoride."

Tap water has always worked for us. Those who have "heard" that the tap water in WDW makes one "come home with something" are correct. Drinking it allows one to come home with more money.

The number one (Aquafina) and two (Dasani) top-selling brands of bottled water in the U.S. both fall in the category of purified water. Dasani is sold by Coca-Cola, while Aquafina is a Pepsi product. As U.S. News & World Report explains, "Aquafina is municipal water from spots like Wichita, Kansas." The newsmagazine continues, "Coke's Dasani (with minerals added) is taken from the taps of Queens, New York, Jacksonville, Florida, and elsewhere." Everest bottled water originates from southern Texas, while Yosemite brand is drawn from the Los Angeles suburbs.
