Is the walkway open??

Did I read correctly? Is the walkway from BWV really open to MGM? We have asked and written several times hoping to convince them to open it. On New Years Eve 1999-2000 we walked along the waterway from MGM as far as the gate. Then up the grassy inclined and across the roadway. The traffic cops were not really happy. But the wait for a boat back HOME was terrible. And we love to walk.

When we at BWV in February we used it several times. It was a great way to get back and forth to MGM without having to wait for a boat.

it's much quicker than the boat. also a good way to work off some of what i've been stuffing my face with at wdw. it's very brightly lit at night; we were amazed more people weren't using it during the first week of may. there were still huge crowds for the boats leaving mgm.

We used the walkway during our stay in Feb. '01. It was a nice walk. I'm sure we will use it again this Dec. at the end of the day coming home from MGM. The wait for the boat can be very long.

We used the walkway in April and were very surprised that it only took us 12 minutes! It looked much farther but was actually quicker than the boat and very pleasant.

We used the walkway twice in May and loved it!! Even if you happen to catch the boat as soon as it takes off from the dock at MGM, you still have to stop at the Swan first and so you beat the boat by walking back. We clocked it at 13 minutes from our villa door to the gates of MGM. A brisk pace, but not too bad.

The walkway is definitely open, and appears to be open for good now. We walked it yesterday, and I noted that both the gate and the chain-link fence that was part of it have both been completely removed.

The walkway is a very convenient way to and from the BW, and so obnoxiously bright that you will need sunglasses after dark (maybe sunscreen, too). We were there last week and preferred the walkway to the boat. Try it once, at least.
