Is the sun wheel really that scary?

I like the stationary buckets :lmao: And there is NO WAY you can get me on the swinging ones. I went with a friend and her 6 foot 4 son, three of us, unbalanced bucket, OMG, we just keep moving and swinging even if the rest of the wheel stopped. Plus I think her son was getting some kind of delight seeing his mom and me turn gray as it swung out and wheeled back. Last summer our Arkansas friends' sons thought it was wonderful swinging, I don't think their mom has forgiven me yet for telling her to ride the Sunwheel.

DH and I did the Swinging Death Bucket on Mickey's Wheel of Death when it was *very* windy and it was :scared1: on wheels.

Our Death Bucket was creaking, rocking, sliding and swaying from harsh gusts of cold wind and it really felt like it would have snapped off at any moment!!!

you know, people are so different, I have been on the swinging ones 3 different times and it is a snoozefest. Just not exciting at all for the wait. My DD thinks it is fun, my DH is on the scared side, I am bored.

Now the Orange stinger swings.......bbbzzzzzzzz thats where it's at Baby :) , I love that ride.

I agree with Judy, I was hoping for this really awesome scary ride, and after the first swing I was like "that's it??" the most exciting part was the fact that there were no seat belts, I'd prefer seatbelts if I new it was going to go faster, or swing more or anything!! I found myself trying to swing it out more when we'd get to the bottom of the loop.

Well, I don't think the Mickey face refurb is *that* scary looking... oh wait is that not what you meant? :rotfl2:

I love swinging, in the gondola that is - still doesn't sound right does it? I have had three horrible experiences where a guest, or two, couldn't keep their food down and we were trapped in a gondola for over 30 minutes while they cleaned up.

Another family who does not like the Mickey Spinning Wheel o' Death.
Stationary bucket, swinging bucket, the first is only a little less horrible than the second :scared1::scared1::scared1:

It's weird because I can ride any roller coaster, no matter how many times it goes upside down, or how fast it goes, but after watching that video I think I'll be riding the stationary ones!:scared: Idk but I would be pretty scared, and when I go in June it will be just my mom and I and she's a total chicken, so I'd end up riding it alone! :rotfl: Is it really that bad, tho? Honestly?! I feel like after one go around I would freak out I would be ready to get off and wouldn't be able to. Are there lap belts or are you just sitting down with no restraints? Sorry but I just couldn't tell from that video.

well rationally it don't believe it can be "that scary" I mean think of the Disney lawyers slapping air gates and restraints on everything they can think of....if there was any real risk, that gondola would have restraints in a heartbeat.

So if you are rational about things like that then, not scary....if you react to heights in a more visceral manner I suppose it could be terrifying.

I am not rational about snakes....so as long as the gondolas aren't infested, then I am fine!

No lap belts or restraints of any kind, just the cage around the bucket O' death.

I love to go high, fast, upside down, anything, but I rode these for the first time ... alone. DH had won a little pink monkey from one of the games on the boardwalk for me to take on the ride with me. I was on there with two kids and their grandfather (I think). I talked with them and they were very nice. That helped keep my mind off the swinging so much. To me it is the scariest ride there. Having said that though, I want to ride it again ... give it one more try, I just want someone to go with me and I'll never get DH up there, he doesn't like heights ... so I am patiently waiting for another victum .. err I mean friend to go with me. :)

I think since this will be my first trip I'm gonna go ahead and go for it! Why the heck not?!! It's funny to hear all the jokes people have to say about it. I noticed you sat with some other people you didn't know. I actually always love that. It's fun to talk to other people and just have fun, no matter who you are with. Thanks for your opinion!

oh my goodness! I had no idea it was so scary like that! I always thought it was just a HUGE farris wheel, but laughed so hard(and became nervous lol) watching the youtube video someone posted. I will still probably do it though. The cages look pretty big, how many people do they load to one cage?

4 to 6 depending on the size. There are some things I do not understand like wearing ponchos on water rides and being scared of the Sun Wheel.

You like to eat ketchup on noodles and I don't understand that. :thumbsup2 I am terrified of heights and falling from them, what's so hard to understand about that? That ride is scary simply because it's so high up off the ground and you stop up at the top!!!!!! When I am in a ride car (like Screamin') I don't feel unsecured, in the Mickey Carts O' Death I am not secured and it's a very scary feeling. I don't like climbing mountains, or standing on cliffs either, I'm ok with stairs because of hand rails and most elevators because they are inside and enclosed. We did ride the glass elevator at the PPH once or twice but I was holding onto DBF the whole time when we did that. :)

Actually I do not like ketchup on noodles usually but when you are hungry and you have a chunk of chicken, veggies that you cannot eat and plain noodles you go for ketchup then you add ketchup. I prefer a marinara sauce on my noodles, sigh.

I am fine with heights but falling is what freaks me out even ladders. If it is secure then I can get near an edge but not unsecure things. I was very happy that Screamin' went down at the end of the ride instead of the top or they would have rescued one freaked out lady.

Oh well, I just remember the BB post where you said they brought you rice noodles and you covered them in ketchup so you could eat them. I remember that because I don't like ketchup that much and it made me feel nauseous. lol I'm glad to know you prefer marinara sauce. lol :) I do too, because I don't really like meat in my pasta sauce. :)

Yup, it's all about the falling......For me they go hand in hand because my mind says "If you don't go up there you won't have to worry about falling" LOL Walking across the Golden Gate was really scary for me as well, it was safe enough but my brain tells me it's really easy to slip thru the teeny tiny sidewalk cracks. lol Yes, irrational so I do try to conquer it but that doesn't mean it's any less real for me.

Hop the train andI will hold your hand on the Sun Wheel or any ride.

I once went in a fun hours with my neighbor who speaks very little English. She was behind me and got scared so she grabbed my t-shirt which ended with me screaming which made her panic more and finally me getting a nice imprint on my neck from the collar. I hope you are not that bad:lmao:.
