Is the Princess Fantasy Faire worth it?

Our DD almost 4 at the time LOVED the princess faire. She enjoyed getting the autograph's of the princess and then Cinderella telling her story and then the Cornation. I enjoyed it as well. We had to wait in line for about 20 to 30 minutes.

In the story, is Belle actually a princess? I've (gasp) never seen the movie, but I've heard it ends simply with them in love, NOT with a wedding, so she isn't *actually* a princess.

Just what I've heard...:upsidedow

Well, I suppose you are right, the movie ends with all the "characters" changing back to human form & Belle & the prince together-they don't show a wedding, but.....you definately have that impression that they will be together forever-happily ever after!......oh, and she does wear the "princess" dress! lol Rent or borrow the movie - it is a good one!

Since Disney continually includes Belle as part of the princesses and since we know the Beast was a prince, I'm going to assume they got married at some point.

And just to be clear here, I'm not implying that female characters who aren't "princesses" are somehow less admirable(though I have been known to gently mock all Disney princes who didn't fight a dragon). I've just noticed that Disney tends to play up 6 human female characters considerably more than others, and those six all have one thing in common. They were either born a princess(Snow White, Aurora, Ariel, and Jasmine), or they married a prince(Cinderella, Belle).

Hope the OP dosen't mind the bump or the question but do the princes ever come out at PFF?

I have always assumed that Belle married the Beast. And since Disney does bill Belle as one of the Princesses I think this is a safe assumption. I loooovvveee Belle! She will always be my favorite because she is intelligent, stands up for what she believes, and has a sense of honor.
I have a question- why is it that Disney produces pictures of Aurora with a pink dress? To set her apart from Cinderella? Hmmmm....just curious!:rolleyes1

Does anyone known when PFF ends? I was thinking about trying to get it in on arrival day, which is a Wednesday, and it would be afternoon for sure.

One thing to remember about why and how the princesses switch off -

Snow White and some of the others read the stories during set show time.s Also the Coronation show takes Snow, Cindy and Aurora away (the only ones we've ever seen do it) - another show time to take note of. Therefore, you get other Princesses in the meet and greet to substitute out.

My advice, check the show times before you get in line and ask the "Princess's Attendant" how long they estimate the line to be. That will give you an idea of when the primary princesses will leave for the show and be relplaced by others.

Early is always the best, before the shows start up for the day.

I think it's worth it compared to the awful dining option (where I got food poisoning once). PS - You can't beat visiting Ariel at her area until they move her to make a home for Tinkerbell and the girls of Pixie Hollow. My girls love Ariel, but they love Tink, Fawn, and Silvermist even more!! (We heard they will be giving Ariel a new meet and greet home near her new ride in DCA.)

Aurora is always in the pink dress in the park too... I have always assumed that Meriwether lost the battle of the pink vs blue dress contest in the end of the movie! :)

And to the OP, we enjoyed our dinners at the Grotto much better than the morning we waited for almost 2 hours for PFF (a Tuesday in May!), because we didn't get to meet Cindy at dinner and DD needed her autograph!

More like Disney not paying attention to their own films. In watching Cinderella, her dress is more silver than blue. I think the big reason is really marketing. They couldn't market princesses to little girls without having at least one in pink, so since Aurora's dress momentarily appears pink, it won.

*WARNING: Sleeping Beauty Fan Rant*Most of the high end collectibles such as figurines, statues, and artwork feature Aurora in blue because the artists, sculptors, et all actually watch the film to get the details right as opposed to bean counters who figure that pink will sell better. And one viewing of the film makes it quite clear that the dress is blue, except for those occasions when Flora is screwing up the color of the dress. When Aurora sees the dress for the first time, it's blue. When she pricks her finger, it's blue. The whole time she's asleep, it's blue. And when Phillip kisses her, it is, you guessed it, blue, which Disney screwed up on the 2003 DVD release). *End Rant*

Sorry about that. One of my major pet peeves is how Disney ignores their own film. They're even promoting an upcoming pin release of the "rare" blue dress when in the film itself, the pink dress is rare.

Those were my thoughts exactly. Isn't Disney releasing "Sleeping Beauty" again in October or some time soon? I wonder what color she will wear this time. I have a pet peeve about classics staying true to their original form as well. Gotta love those classics. Good info. Thanks!princess:

A friend of mine who owns a Disneyana collectibles store related this story about the nature of blue vs. pink and Sleeping Beauty to me, which plays into the cover art for the new release. There is a very beautiful and very hard to find figurine of Princess Aurora sculpted by Giuseppe Armani. Whenever she got this figurine in stock, it would usually sell out within days. Well one day a guy walks into her store and says he's looking for this very figurine because his girlfriend loves Aurora and wants the figurine for Christmas. My friend takes him over to the display case and shows him the very figurine he's looking for. The guy takes one look at the figurine and says that it can't possibly be the right figurine because his girlfriend told him Aurora always wears pink and this "Aurora" is wearing blue.

At this point I start to laugh for two reasons: Number one, I wonder how much said girlfriend really loves Sleeping Beauty considering that she did not know that Aurora wears blue. Number two, this figurine has only been made in blue.

I've seen the cover art for the new DVD release. It's my opinion that in an effort to avoid hearing from people who actually care about stuff like being true to the film's look and not confuse people who apparently love Aurora, yet do not know that she wears blue(I believe this is only possible if you've never seen the film Sleeping Beauty), Disney has taken the bold step of covering up the color of her dress with the title shield, so that her dress color is a "mystery."

No way! That is bold indeed! I saw an advertisement at the beginning of my DD's Tigger Movie for this new re-release and they showed her wearing Blue when she was kissed by Philip ( because a princess would not be so bold as to kiss the prince)princess: and then wearing pink later in the film. So... I guess we will wait to see what she wears! Will you be going to DLR to see Sleeping Beauty castle as it is opened up for walk thru's? Of course I realize this is advertising for the new release, but I am hopeful that I will get a chance to view it.!

My girls are having their Aunt sew Halloween costumes. Actually, she is making each of them 2. Belle in her Christmas dress, Belle in the woods when they feed the birds, Bo Peep from Toy Story and Mary Poppins.

However, when my youngest was wanting to be Aurora her Aunt was looking into having fabric died part blue part pink. We figured we did not want to explain it to people all day though.

Seeing as how her provincial belle is always called Alice, and Cinderella in rags was called a pilgrim.

OMG! How special that will be for the girls! You must take pics! My lil one was CInderella last year which is the photo in my signature! haven't decided what she will do this year! Their aunt is so sweet for sewing the costumes. How thoughtful! Wish I had an aunt like that! I absolutely love Belle in her Christmas dress! very pretty! I am not a fan of either of the Extra Belle movies. IN fact, I have yet to see a part 2 of a Disney animated film that I like.I do like the additions to National Treasure and Pirates of the C of course. Very well written in my humble opinion!
thanks for sharing, you must post pics of the little princesses in their gowns!

I don't think Disney would be stupid enough to change the color of the dress as it appears in the film, but for marketing princess stuff to little girls, I don't think they worry too much about accuracy(I've seen pictures of Phillip leaning over to kiss the sleeping Aurora in pink). I don't hate that they depict her in pink, but what bothers me is that they act like depicting her in blue is rare or something. Aurora's the only princess to have a dress that changes color. They should reflect that.

I think the reopening of the walkthrough is more tied into the 50th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty the film than the 2008 DVD release(since they released it in 2003 as well). I think it's going to be open for years to come. I don't think they'd go to all this trouble just to reopen the attraction for a few months so they can sell more DVDs.

And the walkthrough is tenatively scheduled to be the first thing I do in Disneyland when I go back there after it's opened again.

Hope the OP dosen't mind the bump or the question but do the princes ever come out at PFF?

Prince Charming was with Cinderella (that's her prince, right?) when we saw them *leaving* the area while we were in line with DS. There were many upset children at that moment... Anyway, I assume he was with her in the meet area.

And my assumption is allowed, b/c you guys are assuming that Belle got married even though you didn't see it happen.... :upsidedow

LOL:lmao: Well that is fair enough! I have to assume Belle is married to the prince, it would be devastating to think otherwise.
