We will be there in early March of 2011. Is the swimming pool heated at that time of the year or ever?

Thanks in advance

If I recall my WDW trivia correctly, standard WDW pool temp is something like 82.4 degrees ;)

Every pool you can swim in across property is heated. Including the shark pool at Typhoon Lagoon, except it's kept at 74-76 degrees. Which is a bit chilly.

We were there in late March and found the water to be really cold. It was heated, but the air was so cool that we just couldn't swim for long (no matter how hard we tried). My husband and I got in with the kids, but I quickly moved over to the hot tub and they all followed suit in no time.

Had we been able to stand it, we'd have had the pool to ourselves. Everyone who tried to get in the pool, quickly chose the hot tub instead. Made me feel better that we weren't the only wusses. :rotfl2:

There is a hot tub at Ft. Wilderness? Is that new? Haven't been in a few years and going in Nov, so I'm excited!

In 2009, the Meadow Swimming Pool was renovated, and the following changes made:

  • The deep in was filled in, and the entire pool is now one uniform depth (about 4') (nobody seems to be quite sure about the actual depth- but that is another story).
  • The old River Country water tower was moved to the pool, and a curving slide was erected around it.
  • A hot tub was added.
  • A children's splash play area was added- with slides and fountains, and such.

Also, a hot tub was added to the cabin pool.

So the Fort has two hot tubs! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I would have to agree that while it is "heated", it doesn't feel very warm- but I prefer to swim in bath water warm water.

We went in March a couple of years ago. DH and the kids went swimming for a short time but I had to stay out of the water due to my being allergic to cold water. (Thank goodness for a DH with much warmer blood than my own!) It will depend, too, though, on outside air temp when you're there. It wasn't overly warm when we went (high in the low to mid-70s) so we weren't so hot that we needed a refreshingly cool swim.

I'm so glad to hear this. I am a Floridian so I don't swim in November, but I sure do love a hot tub.

I don't know what the temperature is, but the blue lips on all of our children and the fact that they lasted about 30 minutes yesterday tells me it is probably closer to the 76 degrees like pp mentioned.

Granted it was later in the day and not very hot outside and, our kids are true Floridians so take it for what its worth.

Oh and there weren't many other children in the pool when we were there :)

We're from Houston so yes, 78 degrees is COLD. That said, we have a tradition of swiming on Christmas eve - weather somewhat permitting:)

That's not cold. This is cold! Yep, that's snow and they are jumping into a hole cut in the ice on a lake. Silly folks! It is called the polar plunge. Some folks even wear their bathing suits (like the guy in the background).

I have to admit though that I might not swim at the fort if it is under 80 degrees out. I'm a freeze baby. :o)

For the OP, we were there this past March on the first week and it was my favorite time of the year so far to visit. The crowds were reasonable, the weather was remarkable, my kids swam every day, and the wife and I enjoyed the HOT TUB!

We've been coming for many years. Several years ago, all
of the pools at WDW had their temperatures lowered. I
really find all of them too cold to enjoy. The hot tubs are
good though!

I agree, unfortunately. I was there in September at a Value. It was still sweat-through-your-shirt hot and the pool was just too cool for me to really enjoy. When I'm that tired and exhausted from parking it, the last thing I want is a cool/cold dip. I thought I was just the odd ball, though.
