DH thinks this sounds like fun but all the reviews are terrible, horrible bad so I'm scared to try it. Anyone been recently? Any input? How was the show? How about the food? Are my kids too old?(12 & 9) Nobody in our family has a pirate obsession or anything, it just sounds like fun and we've done MT and Arabian Knights already.

So, give me scoop!

Nobody has an opinion? :confused3

Please, please vote! I really need more input on this one. DH really wants to go but I'm quite leary based on all the horrible reviews. I need more input!

I think I saw discounted prices for the pirate adventure on restaurant.com (like $10 for $25 gift certificate) and if you do a search on fatwallet.com, someone posted a 50% off for certificates on restaurant.com. At 50% off or a little less, I would go to just try the dinner/show.

Have fun and post your review if you go. We may go in December because my 5 year old son is really into swords and etc. I have bought tickets to Arabian Nights this coming May at 50% off as well.

I don't understand how to use restaurants.com I went there and searched stuff (not pirates though) and all I could find was reviews on stuff and how to buy regular old gift certificates. Everybody says you can get them for half price or something....how do you see which restaurants have half price certificates available?

Any other opinions on Pirates Adventure?

Thanks!

Ooops, I figured it out! I was on restaurantss .com with an "s" on the end...now I see restaurant.com has the discounts. Silly me!

We just went a couple of weeks ago. I was a little afraid after reading all the reviews, but we had a 3 year old and an 8 year old who are both pirate crazy, so we decided to risk it.

As I'm sure you've read, the food is not good. I would compare it in quality to one of those cheap all-u-can-eat buffet places, but without the choice of a buffet. Once in the dinner arena, there is free flowing soda, beer & wine. The guys said the beer was just water, and the soda was so bad we couldn't tell if it was Coke or some kind of tea...?!

The two kids loved the pirates and the show. The adults got a kick out of watching the kids enjoy it, but that's about it.

We won't be going again. I guess if you get a really great discount, and you have pirate fans it's worth it, otherwise I think there are alot more fun things that can be done in this price range.

We had a very good time, especially DS and his friends. Food was ok. It was a fun show. We also saw Arabian Nights and DS liked that one better. Again good show and food ok.

We enjoyed arabian nights much better but it is something I would not be able to experience at home so I would probably do it again!

First, no one should go to an Orlando dinner attraction for the gourmet food. That being said, I think Pirates is a fun show. In fact, I gave it my "Academy Award" for best sets.

And while I agree with a previous poster that Arabian Nights is better (the best in Orlando IMHO), Pirates can be very entertaining.

Here's a more complete review.

thanks for the review! We've done Arabian Nights and Medieval Times...looking to try something new. I'm leaning towards the "outta control magic show" at Wonderworks and letting the kids play laser tag. DH wants to do this....It's just that so many people say it's horrible and that makes me nervous to try it. I wish I were getting more response on this poll.

We went (2 adults, no kids, 1 of said adults, the one who happens not to be me, loves pirates and wishes he was one...) last Feb 2004.

I loved it. It's interactive fun and it can be a good time if you like that kind of thing! Chris and I both got picked to go up and do things.

The story itself is a musical. The music is okay, the actors were good and it was a fun show. The set was really cool.

Each section of seating gets a color coordinated pirate to root for. They get all the children in the audience up at the end to play the British army (they dress them all in British coats and hats and give them toy muskets) who comes and surrounds the pirates. When we went, there was this adorable little girl who could barely hold up the musket and she looked SO proud of herself that she was getting the bad guys. :) OMG, she was just about the most adorable child I have ever seen. :goodvibes

I don't think your kids are too old. They had kids of all ages up; and adults too. There is a brief pre-show and a post show pirate dance party.

The food was pretty decent. If you are looking for gourmet, you are not going to find it. It's very average. Not terrific, but certainly not bad. BE AWARE : THEY DO NOT SERVE DIET SODA. I found that to be a problem with this show and Medieval times. Their non alcholic drink menu is limited to water and regular soda and maybe Sprite. This was a big issue for me because I can not have that much sugar. I wound up drinking water. You can get diet soda at the bar during the pre-show but not during the show itself.

All in all, I thought it was fun and would go back if I ever stayed offsite with a car again.

Thanks EsmeraldaX! I love long answers!

I think we've decided we're going to give this one a shot...if it's no good, well, we'll have learned our lesson but after hearing from EsmeraldaX and Kelly, I feel encouraged to at least give it a try.

Thanks for the input everybody! I'll post a review for others when I return and let you know what we thought!

Keep the reviews coming though...I love details!
