Is the "old" Soarin' gone or are both available?

For some reason I got the impression that Soarin' Over the World and Soarin' Over California would both be offered. When I look at Fast Past offerings there is only one option listed. (Non-descript) So is it just all Over the World now?

Yes. Only the new version of Soarin' is in all parks... with an ending specific to the park where it is shown.

Yes, the old version is gone. It was never intended to run both at the same time.

They made a 4K master of the old version, both to use until the new version was revealed and in case the new one wasn't popular.

Seems highly likely they will roll it back out on occasion, especially once the rush to see the new film ebbs a bit. Hopefully they store it properly.

No need to store it as they made an all digital copy to use in the interim from the theater refurb and launch of the new movie (they actually switched the DCA one to digital a while ago). They have a perfect digital copy to use as needed.

I do think they will roll the old one out from time to time for special occasions but it will be rare. Just a guess.

There was a report ages ago that DCA would do both films and that WDW wouldn't because of the differences in their guests.
Something about the large number of repeat guests in DCA vs. the large number of first time/only time guests at WDW.
They want to be sure WDW guests always see the new film.
But either that was a rumor, though I thought I saw it on the Blog, or it was scrapped.

Probably cause some were starting that rumor but I don't think Disney ever planned to do two different movies. The whole point of the third theater was to shorten lines and if you do two movies you have the same line problems. I honestly don't think WDW will ever see the old movie again, I agree it only fits CA, which was a complaint some had from the beginning.

The story I saw reported there would be 1 movie during the week and another on the weekend, or something like that. Not split among the screens on the same day but airing on different days.

My daughter (the Disneyphile) said the beginning is different? It takes off in the specific park?
DCA's, which I saw last week, begins with the actual Matterhorn > polar bears and icebergs.

I haven't seen the Epcot version... will check YouTube. :)

ETA: now that I've watched 2 "Blair Witch" POV videos, Shanghai's and Epcot's Soarin' both begin at the Matterhorn. :)

Sadly California is gone - I prefer it over the new one. I would have liked the new one if they hadn't added so much CGI. :/
