Is the North Korean missle tests that serious?

If we stop North Korea, what will we do with the next country that develops missiles? We can't stop world-wide nuclear proliferation all by ourselves and obviously China and Russia are no help. Why did we let China handle the oversight of NK, when NK is to China as Mexico is to us.

okay I am not into politics but doesnt China have a big army to stop them. I know the Chinese is its ally but why I wonder?

What about other military like say Japan, Russia, etc. Why do we only have to go the military way. I mean the short range missiles would hit them first. Why are we the world police? I am sure if the missile was heading toward us then we would be able to blow it out immediately and then go after them but for tests I thinks countries closer to them should do something about it.

I wouldn't exactly call China an ally. It is NK's major trading partner and source of energy, so it has leverage, but only to a point. But it fears NK more than it feels affilation with it. The Chinese also fear a mass of refugees over the border in the event the regime fails, and KJI negotiates that fear strongly. That is a heavily patrolled border
