Is the MagicBand coming to DLR?

Well, wouldn't it be interesting to see how they try to shoehorn FP+ return lines at all those attractions in Fantasyland?

I can only hope they aren't going to take the same approach as WDW and add the FP's to attractions that either didn't need them or really shouldn't have them because of the logistics. Crossing my fingers they've learned something but not very optimistic that they really have. I was just getting caught up on the addition of FP's to Fantasmic and trying to get over that disappointment.

I actually take that addition of FP+ to Fantasmic as an indication that's exactly where this would go.

I don't know why people are super upset about the whole MagicBand+ and Fastpass+ thing, as someone who went to WDW this past summer I actually really enjoyed it and had no problems with it. I never had issues, and everything was a lot smoother for me when it came to getting into the park, paying for things. I enjoyed it.

The only difference is that if they bring the MagicBands here, and fast pass plus here, they are going to have to cater more to the locals (because more locals tend to go compared to visitors.) I'd be interested to see how its going to go, however I don't think it will be happening here anytime soon. I would guess maybe in 5 years or so.

I think a lot of people are upset with the 60 day pre planning (me included). I don't need to know where I want to be 60 days in advance. With locals popping in at DL last minute they won't have the 60 day advantage which means they will be shut out of the e tix rides. Last minute changes are almost impossible for popular rides. And linking family/friends are messy business that could turn your account into a pile of you know what.
If they just turn the old system mobile then I would totally be on board. I still don't understand their logic.
But this whole booking so far in advance is turning vacation stressful instead of fun.

Disney has already expanded the use of MagicBand technology. They use RFID bands at The Marvel Experience that is stopping at a few places around the country. It is in Phoenix at the moment, and we are going in three days!

There are many things about FP+ that bother me and that is a big one. We have often used our fast passes for the same ride twice a day or more. If we can't do that with the new system, I will be annoyed.

I also don't like the idea of planning what time I'll want to go on what ride months in advance.

I will not be happy to see this come to DLR. Just like I am hoping the system changes for the better at WDW before I ever go back.

Yeah, we used to go to wdw at least once a year, more often than not twice a year. But we tried out the FP+ once and we haven't been back since. We've gone to DL 3x since then though

When DL picks up FP+ I'm not sure what we're going to do.

Hopefully DLR will have some different version. I really don't think the exact system would work for them.

I actually liked FP+ at WDW, but I LOVED LOVED LOVED the magicbands. SO much easier than carrying around (and keeping in good shape) a paper park ticket and having to carry around my credit card and ID to make purchases. I'd much rather just have a magic band.

My personal opinion on how to do FP at DL is to just make it a kiosk system. You go to a kiosk, and see what is available, and pick it when you're in the parks. It could even work like the current system in that you get one at a time. But, it keeps you from having to run from the front of DCA to get Screamin' FP an then back to meet your party to go see Aladdin or something. You could just look, see what is available and choose it. But that's probably wishful thinking...

I don't mind the magic bands or using them for fastpasses, but I hate the fastpass+ system. If it's so important to have booking available (I don't see why), put half of it up there and half can be picked up in the park on the day like before. Just walk up to to the machine, tap the bands and then get a fastpass like normal without paper.

I will never want to wear a bulky wristband in the parks. I sweat even when it isn't hot out...so the idea of that hideous chunk of plastic or whatever on my wrist makes me uncomfortable.

We used MagicBands in WDW in June, in very hot and humid weather. The bands did not bug me at all.

I don't think FP+ would work in DL in its current state. There are just too many casual visitors to DL. Plenty of locals wake up, stretch, and say, "Wanna go to DL today?" Showing up to find out that the wait at TSMM is 60 minutes and there are NO Fast Passes available would likely tick these folks off. I'm a hyper planner whether it's WDW or DL, so I'd find a way to make the system work.

CANNOT see planning rides 60, 90, 30, or even 2 days out!! It is Disneyland.....relax, enjoy, "go with the flow". Agree with pps and especially like how @mom2rtk has addressed many major issues.

You don't have to wear the MB on your wrist. You can put it in or on your purse, tote, backpack, in your pocket or whatever works best for you.

I didn't mind the MB because it was easier than having to keep taking out my park ticket, but I didn't like the FP+ system and hope it doesn't come to DL. I didn't like having to choose times for the rides 60 days in advance because it locked us into a more structured park day. What you plan up to 60 days in advance doesn't always turn out to be what you want to do when you get to the park. Unfortunately in many cases the FP+ has filled rides to capacity for the day so even when you try to change a FP you won't have many choices and what's available might be rides that didn't need a FP in the past.

We are going to Disneyland in February. It will be our very first trip with a child. There's no way I can predict how the trip will go. So how the heck would I ever be able to schedule rides in advance? I am so glad we're 'safe' for this trip!

I'm glad these changed didn't happen when our kids were smaller. How could you possibly know when a child is finally going to have the courage to conquer a new thrill ride? Or how about when they finally DO conquer the new thrill ride, then decide they need to ride it several more times? At least we know what everyone likes and doesn't like.
