Is the Lighthouse Sandwich gone from CHH?

I was perusing menu updates on allears, and I noticed their most recent CHH menu seemed to be missing the Lighthouse (I think that's what it is called.... the hummus sandwich). So I checked the WDW site, and unless I missed it, it's not listed there, either.

Heading to the menus....

... Anchors Aweigh is still there. Whew! Why in the world would they take away the other sandwich though? It always seemed popular.

I just had the Lighthouse, last Saturday. It's always been a favorite of mine. Hope it's still there!

Sorry to hear this! And I just checked the official menu--the Lighthouse Sandwich is indeed gone. It's getting to be nearly impossible to find a vegan meal at MK--the Lighthouse minus the slaw was one of my go-to meals. I don't like chili, which is, other than steamed vegetables (which don't really constitute a meal, per se), the only vegan item left. Very very very disappointed. Especially since the vegan burger option at Cosmic Ray's is also gone. I'm going to have to start bringing my own food to MK.

IKWYM. I don't understand all the recent menu changes that have eliminated multiple veg*n options throughout WDW. They must have their reasons, but I thought this sandwich was popular enough to have staying power. Guess not.

I've written to WDW about this a few times, but I think they basically don't care. Perhaps vegans don't represent enough of a market to WDW? As I've tried pleading to them--vegetarians will eat a vegan meal, but the reverse isn't true. Too bad DAK isn't next door to MK--then I could just go to Tusker House for lunch every day!

I wrote to them again. Will post with their reply when I get it.

Somebody had a load of carrots to eat and they took a fancy to CHH's supply of hummus?

Wait! What??? The healthy stuff is starting to disappear??? :confused3 Everyone....just stop it! I loved that sandwich... and I don't EVER eat sandwiches! ...Looks like that will be even more true now.

I don't understand what is happening but yes, the vegan/vegetarian options are all being removed. I eat some chicken but I don't like the texture of meat, so I love being able to come to Disney and getting excellent vegetarian items. This is now the 5th or 6th item that I used to eat, booo. Maybe dealing with all of the GF people and food allergies, it was just too much to keep up with.

I don't really see how it was too much to deal with, but, yes, WDW seems to have let vegetarians and vegans go by the wayside in favor of their allergy menus. They have no "vegetarian" or "vegan" specific choices. Very very disappointing to me, especially since now I'm going to have to hyper-plan all my WDW trips. I know that some people like this, but I don't even like FP+. I'm more of an on-the-fly person, but without available vegan quick service, I'm going to have to make ADRs on top of the FP+s.

I do promise to post when they write back to me, although I'm expecting a very pleasant boilerplate response.

That is so sad!! I am a carnivore for sure and I always ordered the Lighthouse! And when I was in line I always heard lots of other people ordering it too!

That sandwich was highly recommended ,
AND very popular!
ALSO, since it did NOT contain meat,
Disney made MORE profit on that sandwich than their seafood & chicken offerings,
SO it has to be another reason.

TO me it seems like they don't want to offer entrees for vegan or vegetarian!
Like they can't get hummus anyMORE?!

TO merely say that they offer ONE vegetarian (that can be made vegan) selection @ each restaurant is a poor excuse!

Could you see them getting rid of hamburgers everywhere,
saying " we offer ONE meat entree @ each restaurant, and where achicken sandwich is offered, a hamburger NEED NOT be. "

AnnaKat: I wrote back to them and basically begged them to at least have a vegan veggie burger available at a couple of QS locations in each park (and a vegan bun--since sometimes there's a food that a vegan could eat, only there's not a piece of bread to put it on!). I got a similar boilerplate response, but at least I registered my thoughts. It's weird to me that it was actually easier to get a vegan meal almost anywhere in WDW 10 years ago than it is now. Boo hoo hoo!
