You know..I cook some pretty tasty ribs on the grill when I'm at the fort. S*L*O*W GRILLIN'- My ribs put the ones at the HOOP DEE DOO to shame. The money your payin' is for the show not the food.

PLUS- I AM NOT CUT OFF FROM DRINKIN' after a couple hours like I am at the HOOP DEE. That draft beer gives me a headache!

We loved the show, the food, the price not so much. We do the dinning plan for this reason only. we do the sit down meals so its not so $$$. we are not big eaters, but at wdw we seem to eat more than anywhere else.:hippie:

All the Bud Light you can drink sounds pretty darn good to me, of course, I'm a Bud kind of guy :P

considering i can get a 1/2 keg for $50, paying $60 deems it not worthy.

Well yea, but this is Disney, you can get everything in Disney for cheaper someplace else ;)

Plus it's not just 60 bucks for beer, although I wouldn't be surprised if Disney opened an "All you can drink beer" station in America in Epcot for 60 bucks...lol.

I'll let you know the answer to the keg question in about 2 weeks if we make it to the fort.

With all the free shows you can view at Disney, paying $60 for one with beer and food doesn't seem logical. Especially when you consider, that all of their other shows are done very well. It's not like the other shows stink.

Its not that my working class family( and others) don't want to go to the HDDR......We simply are priced out of it.....:guilty:

Just so you know, quite a few of us are working class as well and can go to it, it's just a matter of budgeting and whether it's worth it to you.

If you can't afford it, then by all means don't go. However, even working class people (myself included) know how to save money up for trips :)

Like so many other things in life, I budget for the expense, we dont go every trip, I think we have been a total of 4 times since 93.

Yea, we're the same way, it's not something we want to pluck down the money for every trip, cause it's just out of our budget. But we are planning on going this year, and we have already stashed the money away for it.

Like Scott said, just a matter of budgeting (if it's worth it to you). We're talking 60 to a couple hundred bucks here, not buying a new car :)

We save a lot of money feeding the teenage boys by cooking a lot of food and freezing it before we leave. That way we can save money on lunches by going back to the camper and eating sloppy joes etc. I cook up food for the road also to save money and actually eat better while we are on the road. I figure that this builds a little extra $$ into the budget because I dont have to shell out $6 per kids every time we stop to eat. My kids thought I was crazy for cooking on the manifold of my truck, after eating hot pizza rolls for lunch they are believers :thumbsup2
Food is really the breakover point in saving us money camping vs staying in a resort. We could drive Mrs Disneys econo car down and cut our fuel bill by 2/3 but then we are forced to stay in a hotel (which none of the boys wants to do since they love FW so much) and eat out every meal.
Long story short is that like Chris and I have said, its all about priority. When I can get 3 teenagers to sing along and bang on washboards and laugh like that.... I will plunk down $300 of my VERY hard earned money cause that stuff is priceless :thumbsup2

I voted yes. We go on average of once a year. Overpriced? When has anything at Disney EVER been overpriced? :confused3  But to answer the poll...It is worth it! :thumbsup2 We budget for it just like any blue collar camper that goes to WDW ;)

For us the HDDR is part of the trip. We only make it down to WDW every 2-4 years and we spend the time in between saving saving saving!! We put the cost of the HDDR in our budget and while yes it is spendy, we don't do any other big dinners when we go (though this year we added breakfast at Chef MIckey's) and eat 80% of our meals at the trailer. We are a blue collar family and that is how we roll (as my boys would say) :rotfl:

I'll let ya know what I think after our first trip to FW (and first time at Hoop D Doo) in June.

We went ( Nanna 60, Me 37, DD 17) and had a hoot - but we went with free dining and did not have any OOP expense. We plan on going back this August when we take DD down to her CareerStart Program and are taking Hubby ,42 and DS 13 to enjoy the show. My DD LOVED IT and thought it was fully worth everything ( she hates boats and we went over by water) but as I was making the ADR's for this trip the idea of $200.00 for dinner and a show for a family of four still scares me ( yes I have free dining but they make you reserve with a credit card in case you're a no-show)
Although - $50 bucks a head is still a great deal compared to LaNouba:scared:

He's got a very good point there.
