Is the Hawaii trip going to come back?

We were going to do the ABD Hawaii trip, but then they stopped it just when we wanted to go! Anyone know if this planned for the 2009 itinerary?

Thanks!!

Did they offer Hawaii this year? I didn't notice it in the 2007 brochure. Maybe they are waiting for the new Disney resort to open on Oahu in 2011.

We were considering that one and noticed it disappeared too. I too am hoping it will resume when they open the hotel.

Ironically the Hawaii adventure (1st year only) used the Marriott Ko 'Olina resort as one of the host hotels. I don't know the reason for not continuing this offering, but I doubt that it had anything to with the Marriott hotel. I suspect it just didn't sell well. It was one of a handful of adventures offering a "kids free" promotion, which tells me that bookings weren't what they hoped for.

I am wondering if they will revisit this idea after the new Disney resort is built in 2011.

I think Hawaii probably didn't sell because it is already very easy for families to do on their own, just my opinion.

We have taken family trips to Maui with no problem and I just don't see the need to pay extra for the Disney experience there as far as arranging excursions and such.

A Disney resort, however, WOULD be a unique experience that I would pay for.

We actually took a trip to Oahu (3 days) and the Big Island (6 days) at the same time the Hawaii ABD was offered (Aug 06). Of course I looked at the ABD offering, but even with the kids free option it was no problem to put together an equally nice customized 9-day itinerary that cost less than their 7-day itinerary. Just imagine if we had to pay for our kids! I think ABD makes most sense for couples who value convenience, and have a lot of cash to throw around (or a bundle of DVC point they need to unload).

Exactly-- you can have a great experience for a much less in Hawaii, and still have quite a bit of convenience. Even a number of value hotels have a concierge or you can use an agency (like Amex) to book tours and excursions.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if, once the resort is open, they offer some kind of Hawaiian package, if not under the ABD brand name, then as a DVC special perk or something else altogether...

I've been doing research to take a trip to Hawaii on our own
and was wondering if anyone knows of any good Hawaiian Travel
Forums? thanks

I used tripadvisor.com for the most part. Not really a forum like this one, but a lot of ratings and opinions and some info as well.

I never found any major forums focused on Hawaii as a travel destination, but then I didn't knock myself out looking. I did find a couple smaller ones. flyertalk.com has one, for example.

i was very disappointed that they got rid of the hawaii. when adventures of disney first came out this one looked the best to me.
