Is the Freeport stop being dropped?

Barb's question about whether to skip their annual trip to WDW in favor of three Wonder cruises in a row sent me to DCL's site to find out which 4-day itinerary they'd get (the one with the Freeport stop or the one with the day at sea). They don't have any cruises with the Freeport stop listed after August 11, and none listed for 2003. With all the mixed reviews of Freeport, are they doing away with this itinerary?

Good observation, Dave! We were wondering the same thing. Hubby discovered that tonight, too...he checked the itinerary, as he was going to use Freeport as a lobbying point with me. We have never been there, and the 4-day schedule usually doesn't fit well into our plans, so he was hoping he could win me over with a Freeport trip. But looks it maybe it is discontinued?!? I hope someone has some further info!

Freeport as a port of call is reviewed and renewed on an annual basis by DCL, in August. The original contract was for one year, which was then extended for a second year, through August 2002. There has been no announcement yet if DCL will continue with Freeport as a port of call past August. :)

I called DCL today to ask this question since we are interested in crusing in Septemeber. They are not renewing the contract and no more Freeport stops after Aug 11......

Wow! I'm on the 8/11 Wonder journey & one of the reasons I booked that week was due to the Freeport stop. So does that mean a new stop or another day at sea? Just curious! Kathy

Relax, Kathy!

Your August 11 4-night cruise is the LAST one that is doing the Freeport stop, according to the Cruise Line schedule. After that date, there will be a day at sea.

That's sad, actually any stop would be nice, you just don't have to get off the ship. I was thinking about taking the 4-day Wonder cruise with hubby, just to see Freeport since we've never been. That's the reason you go places, right? A day at sea is nice, too, sice Disney has their programing and the 3-day goes by so fast. I admit it, I'm a cruise-a-holic. I never thought I'd like it, in fact, I knew I would hate it, but I was so very wrong.

I love my DCL!

I am just curious here but why doesn't it just stay another day at Castaway Cay. All I hear is good things about it...............

Sneaky, I'm with you! I frankly would love an all Castaway Cay cruise! Sail down, dock for 2 or 3 days and cruise back! I think that would be heavenly!!!

I don't know about freeport, but they should seriously, seriously consider dropping nassau. It is far and away the worst cruise town I've ever been in. SKIP Nassau and spend TWO days at castaway!

WE have ask about staying at Castaway Cay also.

Thought it would be great just to go there.

I think there is something with the legal things about staying there and I also heard that the bugs would eat you alive.

I think they could work around it somehow.

Just go out to see a little bit in the evening and come back to the dock for the day - or something.

I love Castaway Cay and the last cruise i was on in November was not able to dock because of the rough seas.

I leave on Saturyday for another 7 day and sure hope we have better luck next time.

There is nothing so sad as sitting and seeing that beautiful island from about 1000 feet out and just not being able to get there.

I wanted to jump overboard and just swim in.
