I've been playing around on the DVC site trying to get a studio or one bedroom at any of the DVC resorts and can't get any availability (4-5 nights) from mid-September to right before Thanksgiving. I know the Food & Wine Festival is going on, but no availability?? (I could get a couple nights at SSR)

We were lucky enough to go for 10 nights in July, but dh & I were just checking to see if we could get away for a couple of nights.

By far the busiest time of the year is late September through marathon weekend in January.

Fall used to be a good time to go for low crowds, but Disney has plussed-up what was once "off season" to where it's really grown over the years. Food & Wine and MNSSHP are two events that come to mind, not to mention various free dining incentives. It still is a good time to go, but planning ahead is more important than ever. :earsboy:

The Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP/MVMCP are very popular with DVC owners. It's by far the busiest season for DVC, so it's not surprising that you can't find availability less than two months out. Timeshares aren't designed to have availability this close to your travel dates.

We visit the week before F&W begins and the parks are not crowded (comparing it to the Christmas crowd). We love it!

That time of year is really hard. And the renovations at WLV has made things hard to get too from what it looks.

For booking in the fall one has needed to be booking at least 6 months out to find much of any length of availability (and normally not much of a choice of resorts). Many people book their home resorts for the fall and lots of those who own at BWV and BCV own there to use during the food and wine festival.

SSR 1-bedroom looks to be free from Sept 26 - Oct 2 right now. Other than that it does look to be slim pickings, our strategy has always been to grab as many contiguous days as we can, waitlist the rest, and grab the last couple of days at All Stars for cash if we don't get anything. Between food & wine and MNSSHP this is an incredibly popular time to visit.

We were looking in the same timeframe and can't find anything either. We were just there in May but thought it might be fun to do a long weekend for Food and Wine. We can't find any availability so....I guess we won't be going this year.

I always book my fall trips at the 11 month window. Everything else I book at the 7 month window to include early May and late summer, and sometimes Late January.

It can be done. I pieced together 5 nights in a BWV pool garden studio for the middle of November in 2013. Nights 3, 4, 5 became available about 2 months out, l booked it. And then night 2 a couple weeks later. Night 1 became available by wait list 28 days out. Member Services combined the reservations.
