Is the end coming for Multiple Experience Fastpasses?

I knew from reports here and from our last trip that Disney had instituted tiers for Multiple Experience Fastpasses, but I had a new and different experience last night.

We had an 8:00-9:00 pm FP scheduled for Buzz. We got there at 8:26 to find the ride closed. I pulled up the app to see if our FP had converted to a Multiple Experience pass but instead it had shifted to an 8:20-9:20 FP and the attendant at the ride was telling people "if you have a Fastpass, keep it and it will be valid later."

I suppose in a way that would be more fair because it limits you to the ride you actually booked and gives you a chance to ride it even if the time window is up, but for someone who booked that FP to fill a particular gap in their schedule, it may not be practical to come back later.

And what if the ride does not come back to normal during the guest's intended stay? I guess if people argue with customer relations on this, maybe they can issue a multiple experience one, while the majority of people do not bother.

For Buzz? Probably not. Even popular rides like Sky school will not multipass to Mania or Radiator Springs.

I had a few replacement FPs show up on my app. It was only good for the ride I’d reserved. I didn’t notice until I got there. The app said the ride had stopped, but when I got there a CM said that it was continuously running and they sometimes do that for crowd control when the standby line gets too long. The idea is to shift more guests to coming back later.

I had that happen with a Splash fp last March. We walked by and saw that it was closed 15 minutes before our window opened. I expected it to convert, but instead it pushed our window 20 minutes later.

That kind of stinks, actually. What if the time they decide to move you to is also your dinner reservation or Savis? I understand limiting the return FP to the same ride, but I think they should allow you to come back at a time that fits in your schedule, instead of unilaterally picking a time that may not work for you at all.

My understanding is that they only “bump” them if it’s 30 minutes or less, and only in certain circumstances. It’s pretty rare.

You can also take a receipt from an experience up to a FP return with a screenshot of your FP and explain why you missed it. They’ll let you in. This is another reason to screenshot FPs when you book them.
