Do teens 17 and up tend to have a good time..or is it really just a kids cruise?

There is a thread on the cruise line forum going right now with this question however to answer your question it depends alot on the teenager.

If your teenager is outgoing and likes to meet new people than they would proably enjoy themselves in the club. If you are able to get onto CC then the teen beach it supposed to be a lot of fun and I think a game of beach volleyball can always get a group going.

If your teen isn't as outgoing then they may get bored if they have to hang out by themselves. The pools are not meant for teenagers and are overrun by young children. The arcades are good but you cannot spend the entire trip there. They always have movies for the older crowds so that is an option as well.

...however we found this to be an excellent opportunity to be able to spend some quality time with our teenager. She has two younger sisters and sometimes we split up so either my husband or myself would take our teen or the two younger ones and do something together or we would do something all together.

As I said in the other thread, spa treatments for teens would be great and I wish I could have gotten her there as their lives are stressful and sometimes a teenager needs pampering just as much as an adult does.

I hope this helps

thanks...im actually the 17 year old..and i think the spa treatment sounds very good!...since im going with my younger siblings i don't think i am going to be that outgoing without someone to tag along..i was wondering if you have seen alot of older teens..and do they make friends fast..because i am very friendly just alittle shy.

Sorry - now I can tell your age by the name!

I really didn't see many 17-18 year olds however they could have been in the Aloft much of the time. If you go to the first orientation meeting for the teen club you might find someone your age to hang out with. Otherwise I think you are close enough in age to an adult that you may be able to get away with using the adult pool and doing some adult things.

I hope you have fun!

Three of the Four daughters are teens and they had a great time at the Teen Aloft. We really gave them space and put trust in DCL's crew who runs the place. No issues and they were very happy.

The tears did not start until they found out we were not going to Castaway Cay because the ship need picture perfect weather to dock there. That put a huge damper on their cruise.

Please don't make the mistake of booking a DCL cruise because of Castaway Cay because it is a gamble due to the island and the ship being ill equipped for docking in less than perfect weather. There was nothing that old salty Swedish Henry could to. The captain is only as good as the limits of the ship.

We just returned from Feb 26 Western. My daughter is 16 and she had a great time. She went to the stack the first night and it was a little slow. She ended up meeting friends though...while playing basketball... and while we were waiting for our excursions.

Thanks for the replies everyone...i'm looking forward to the cruise and if i don't find anyone my age...i'll just work on my tan!! :p

:wizard: Hey in 17 and i went on the cruise last summer. It took a day or two for me to get comfortable, but after that it was one of the best and most fun weeks of my life. You just have to enjoy yourself and if your are shy just remember that after this week, you will never see any of these people ever again. :earsboy:

My daughter is six months shy of 18, and she spent most of the time with me - her choice. We got lots of sun time (her tan is lots better than mine!) and we hung around the adult pool. Also, if you're lucky, maybe your tablemates at dinner will include another teenager or two.

We took our third cruise last February when DD was 17 and a senior in high school. It was to be our last big family trip before he started college. He had been on the Magic before, so he knew what to expect. To be honest, it turned out to be a quiet week for him. He hung with us most of the time, in fact we took him to the "adult" type shows in the evening when his sisters were in the clubs. He was a little too old for the teen activites and didn't mind staying with the adults in our party. He insisted that he had a very good week. It's a tough age..not really grown up but not a kid either. If you are a close family, it will probably be a good vacation for all.

My DD, now 17 has been on 4 DCL cruises and LOVES them! She has always made friends in the club, but also likes the pampered life on board. My DS was 14 on our last cruise, and he was so thrilled to move up to the teen stuff. He had a blast.

We also find that we have some very, very nice quality and quantiy time with our teens on these trips.

Beenhad..."The tears did not start until they found out we were not going to Castaway Cay because the ship need picture perfect weather to dock there. That put a huge damper on their cruise.

Can you so us all a favor and give it a rest, the only fact is that you missed CC, the rest isn't true and all you do is cause other anxiety.
