Is the Contemporary Tower noisy?

We want to stay at the Contemporary Tower next Christmas season. However, in looking at it, the halls open onto the lobby below. It seems noise from Chef Mickey's, lobby, etc could drift up to your rooms, especially those on the lower floors. Has anyone had such an experience? I want to stay in the tower for the views and the "magic" but would like to be able to sleep!

We stayed in the tower 3 times years ago. The hotel got too "busy" for us when the convention center was built and we switched to the YC/BC when it was built. As I remember the rooms were exceptionaly quiet. Wonderful views of MK or the lake with EBP. The room area closest to the atrium has the bath, closet, hallway so the living/sleeping areas are away from any noise. One trip we checked in with our 2 young children, did MK, went back to the hotel and went to bed. When we walked out of the room in the morning the entire hotel was decorated for Christmas! We didn't hear a thing and the surprise was something we still talk about. Don't worry about noise.

We love staying in the tower. Always try and request the same room .. and have been lucky enough to get it. You step out your door and look over Chef Mickey's. Even during the napkin song you can't hear a thing in the room.
Love watching Fireworks and boat parade also.

It depends...is it generally "noisier" than OKW? Yes.

However, prior to joining DVC, it was our favorite resort. It has it's quiet times and noisy times. Depending on your room, you can hear the whoosh of the monorails, or the general clatter of people...but unless you are a very, very light sleeper, it probably won't disturb you and may add to the excitement.

We stayed on the 10th floor of the Contemporary after our cruise last December. I thought for sure it was going to be very noisy. Well, it wasn't! I could hear (and see!) the fireworks at MK but nothing from within the hotel.

Have a great time and sleep well!

The Contemporary tower is a sentimental favorite of ours. It's the first place we stayed 15 years ago. The rooms are surprisingly quiet, and the view is amazing. I would love to go back one day, for old times sake.

We stayed at CR Towers on the 12th floor. It was very quite, we didn't hear a thing, but it was great to look down and see all the hustle and bustle :wave2: . We loved it.:D

We were right smack in the center of the tower, near the top floor, overlooking the Magic Kingdom. It was very cool, and not a bit of noise in the room. Sat out on the balcony and watched the fireworks with a bottle of wine and a couple of palmetto bugs.

Ahhh, what memories! You'll have a blast.

I've had MANY stays in the CR tower since 1974. I don't ever remember the rooms in the tower being noisy! It is really a neat place to stay-have fun!

I feel the same way about the tower. Stayed on the 11th floor, and had no noise concerns. In the a.m. we could fainltly hear singing from Chef Mickey's, but by no means was this disturbing..it was actually very nice.:)

The floors closest to the Grand Canyon Concourse (6-8th floors) would be noisier, which is not to say that you'd hear a din in your room. I've never had trouble.

We were there in April while two conventions were going on and we stayed on the ninth floor. you could have heard a pin drop. The view was wonderful as we sat on the patio and watched wishes and the castle change colors.

The floors closest to the Grand Canyon Concourse (6-8th floors)

Where do the floors above the concourse open to, floors 9 on up?

I would like the highest non-c room possible which overlooks the concourse. Any advice?

I think that would be the 11th floor:D I agree with all the above posters-never a problem with noise-can't wait till our next stay in the tower:Pinkbounc

We have stayed in the tower many times over the Holidays especially and find it somewhat noisy but not enought to not stay there! At Christmas time you can hear the Christmas music while in your room...it's nice I think:D

We stayed there last June ~compliments of a free WDW magical upgrade~ 8th floor overlooking the castle. We could see Tinkerbelle coming out of the castle. Our video of her is fabulous!! When we stepped out of our door, we overlooked Chef Mickey's. :D :D

We never, not once, heard a sound coming from anywhere. Everything was sooooo quiet.

You won't be sorry!!

Anna

We've stayed in the CR Tower over a dozen times over the years. You can hear the singing from Chef Mickeys very faintly on the lower floors, mostly in the morning, - but it adds to the fun! It's great to open the door in the morning and hear the excitement from below - a wonderful start to the day. The CR is our favorite! (check the avatar).

Seems like the only noise anyone's heard was from Chef Mickey's (faintly). Since they're closed when we'd be sleeping I don't think that would be a problem.
