Is the Contemporary a Good Resort for a Solo

As good as a number of others. It places you right next to (walkable) MK. It has one the best restaurants with a view (California Grill). You have easy monorail access to the Poly and GF. There are of course others that would be fine (and better depending on what you want ). For example, if I were a single I would probably go for one of the Epcot Resorts -- Yacht/Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin, BoardWalk with BoardWalk high on the list because it has its own nightly entertainment district including a night club and and a dance hall. Moreover, staying at any of those resorts puts you within walking distance of Epcot and MGM and within walking distance of about 2 dozen restaurants (at the resorts and those parks).

I agree with drusba...best place would be Boardwalk area. DH stayed there several times for conventions. You will find alot of other conventioneers on their own (or with other co-workers). DH enjoyed being able to walk around the Boardwalk in the evening, plus catch the firewalks over the bridge leading to Boardwalk. Contemporary is OKAY, but in mind probably not as ideal of a location as Boardwalk hotels for singles.

Now that's a horse of a different color. My first pick would be the YC&BC, that said I've also enjoyed both my stays at the CR. Have a great trip.

Actually, I will offer a varying opinion - I think the Contemporary would be fine for a solo. I stayed there last January with family. MK is an easy walk. You can rent boats as a solo, which is always fun (in my opinion!). Also the hotel has the Food and Fun Center, which is a food court, which some solo's find easier than sit-down restaurants. The room size is very nice, too. There are interior corridors in the garden wings, though to get to the tower you must walk outside for a little way. I always saw plenty of people around, and felt quite safe.

I have taken many solo trips, and I stayed once in the Epcot area, at Beach Club. I liked it, but Beach/Yatch Club has no food court, which I found very annoying. There was nowhere real close for an early quick bite to eat, or a late night dinner/snack. I usually don't go to sit-down restaurants as a solo, but I did eat solo at Beaches and Cream at the counter. It was nice, but I prefer a food court being at least available. I remember eating snacks many times in my room, since I couldn't get a meal.

Oh well! I would happily stay at the Contemporary solo!

Maybe you can get the best of both worlds....check with SOG and see what rate they can get you for an EPCOT area resort. It will most likely be reduced significantly,

At the $89 a night rate mentioned above, there is no choice -- take Contemporary - - I consider the Epcot resort area better but it ain't $200 a night better.
