Is the Concierge staff able to get last-minute PSs??

We've never stayed at the concierge level before but will be, in July. On the night we arrive, we're going to want to go to a sit-down restaurant but because our plane is due to land at 6:30pm, I don't know exactly what time we'll be getting to our resort and checking in.

My question is, can we ask the Concierge staff to call and make a PS for us? Will they have a better chance of getting one for us, in the event the restaurant doesn't have any available to the "general public"??? In other words, do the restaurants give the Concierge staff priority when they call to make a PS?? Thanks.

I have found the concierge to be very helpful at making the tough PSs. I don't think the restaurants set tables aside for last minute concierge guests' requests, though. Sometimes I have had better luck on my own!

If I were you, I would make a PS for that evening - estimate your dining time (maybe 8:30 or 9pm)- and if you are delayed, the concierge can phone the restaurant and they can most likely hold the table for you. We had to do this on our last trip due to check in problems. I bet July is a busy time to go, so I would be prepared with a PS.

Maybe someone else has had a different experience, but I like to be prepared!! You really can't rely to much on the concierge staff. Sometimes they are great and sometimes just so-so.

The concierge staff will be able to make a PS for you if there is a time available. We have found that the PS that is made by the concierge staff is no better, or no worse, than the one you make yourself. Your PS should be fairly late in the evening so you shold have no problem.

We only asked for 1 last minute, for Chef Mickeys. The concierge staff was not able to obtain it for us. We were seated, but had to wait in line with everyone else.

The last time we stayed concierge, we did alot of changes for PS, and they were pretty helpful. I found things that are usually hard to get PS for were still hard, but they were pretty accomodating.

The AKL concvierge was able to get us last minute PS's at Boma. They were jam packed when we arrived and we were seated within moments of arriving--before others who had been waiting.

I think the concierge staff has a little extra pull in the resort they are staffing, but not any for other resorts.

Anne beat me to the post. I was also going to mention that you will probably have better luck with getting a last minute ps at the resort you're staying in. I'm guessing that with a 6:30pm arrival at MCO, that's what you were thinking anyway. The concierge staff is great, I'm sure if you let them know your anticipated arrival time at the resort, they might be able to recommend a good ps time. I would think that 8pm would be safe and 8:30pm would be safer. I'm usually a room service person when we arrive that late, but it will limit your choices.
