Is the coffee really that bad?

We just got back from ASMo, and the coffee wasn't that bad. I love my morning coffee, and can really drink just about any kind.(So I may not be the best person to answer, but...) It wasn't the best I have ever had but I have definetly had worse (Krispy Kreme, there coffee is disgusting!! I really cannot drink it. But they make up for it with donuts!!) They also have a hot water dispenser and a couple of different kinds of tea bags. I got sick halfway through our trip with a sore throat and was stuck in bed for about a day and a half. My wonderful husband kept going down to the food court to get me hot tea with lemon and honey.

The coffee in WDW is just fine. Not great, but not awful. I think most of the people who have a problem with Disney coffee are either coffee snobs (because there really isn't anywhere in WDW where you can get a truly fine cup of coffee), or people who are used to having the same brand every day (generally dunkin donuts or starbucks) who are disapointed because they can't have their regular brand.
Honestly, I think people just like to make a big deal about their coffee. And why not? For most of us, coffee is our best friend every morning. But I liken it to beer. I love really good beers, but I'll never complain when somebody hands me a bud light. There's plenty of things to obsess about for a Disney vacation, but coffee doesn't need to be one of them.

I hate the coffee there! It's truly the only thing that is consistently AWFUL when we go.
It's Nescafe from CONCENTRATE, it is absolutely disgusting. My husband and I literally drink 2 pots of coffee per day at home, and we drink maybe a cup and a half there. We end up drinking other stuff with caffeine so we don't get the headache!
We bought DVC, so now we will have a coffeemaker with real coffee any time we want!
One of the first things we realized when considering the purchase of DVC!!!:rotfl2:

The coffee at the resort counter service places is not so good... but they do some sorta Disney magic to the cream that makes it unbelievably tasty. Black coffee is blech, but you cream it up and it's delicious. It's like a dessert coffee. :rotfl:

It is Bad

yeah DUNKIN DONUTS WOULD BE GREAT!

Dont really like StarBucks!

But when we arrive at our resort we go find a Dunkin and get Like 5 LARGE COFFEES
and then we put them in our fridge.......

We can then use them for ice coffee or reheat for morning coffee.
If the last drop of that coffee days later is better than Disney Cofee.

had some sort of flavored cappuccino (maybe caramel?) at POFQ that I thought was good. Expensive, but tasty.

Not a coffee snob, though...and personally think Starbucks is awful unless covered with about 500 calories cream & sugary flavorings. At home, drink Folgers, black or with cream (no sweeteners.)

I thought the coffee was pretty awful and made worse but a lack of real cream only coffeemate creamers in the food courts. Keep in mind I live in Seattle and consider a Starbucks latte to be the last resort for my regular coffee drinking. I would also say that the espresso drinks available from the various stands were more drinkable than the drip but were worse than Starbucks. The funniest experience I had was at Fountainview when it was an esspresso shop (before it became an icecream place). It was August and I wanted an iced latte do to the extreme heat and they said they couldn't do it unless I would take a hot latte poured over a lot of ice. Again as someone from Seattle I was horrified at being unable to make what I would consider to be a basic drink from an esspresso shop. No wonder Fountainview didn't work in that format.

I think it is bad. Very bad. We bring our own, with our own filters and make it in the room. I can go without having any coffee in the morning and will be fine, but if I am going to drink it, I want it to taste like something. If I can at all avoid it, I will not drink most of the coffee at disney.
However, this is our first time staying at the Poly and rumor has it that there is decent coffee there. We shall see, although we still will be bringing our own.

Yes, it is bad, but I can live with it for a few days. I'll get a decent one in the little shops I find around the parks.

I put in half coffee and half hot chocolate. It's really GOOD that way!:thumbsup2 ....or at least drinkable!

It is horrid!! If you really like to have your coffee, bring your own coffee and coffee maker with you. You will be glad you did.

We buy a cheap one and ship it USPS about a week before we go.

The coffee is the only bad part of WDW! it is truly gross!

I am a coffee drinker...and always brew my own in the room.....I also went to McDonalds and got a coffee there for a quick fix...you know the one over by BB:thumbsup2

What we would not give for Disney to enter into a deal with Dunkin Donuts.

I second that!:thumbsup2

I don't like the coffee at all, but I'll drink it. Along the same lines as what a previous poster said...I'm in Disney. If the worst thing I have to deal with is not so great coffee, then it's all good. I'd much rather be drinking icky coffee in Disney than drinking good coffee at home, or worse...at work!!! :goodvibes

I dont drink coffee but my dad does adn he has never really complained about it and he loves strong coffee

he will drink like 2 espressos form starbucks AND like 7 more cups at home adn work during the day and he still drank like 3 or 4 cups a day at disney adn never said a word about.....not great, not terrible, nothing...

BUT...than again...my dad doesnt complain...about anything, so he might not be the best judge of it but he always filled up his mug in the morning at least once and alwasy drank more during the day so i guess it served the purpose that he needed it to

Sorry but we really love the Disney food court coffee - don't know why we just do!
We especially love the coffee at the Kona Cafe.

The water in Florida is awful! That is part of the problem and then add into that the use of Nescafe.....yucko! I hate Starbucks (too bitter for me) and I am one of those who really really needs coffee in the morning. It is dangerous for me and anyone around me until I have at least one cup! lol If you are going to use a grocery delivery or go to the market yourself, get a couple gallon jugs of water just for coffee. I also have found that while they aren't perfect, the Maxwell House and other top brand lines of coffee singles are far better than WDWs brand. You can boil the water in your micro and make one cup at a time.

I didn't think the coffee was that bad. We stayed at ASMu last October and I braced myself for that first sip because of all the negative posts. I was surprised at my first sip because I didn't think it was that bad. I will say that I think Starbucks is the worst coffee I have ever had, very bitter, Dunkin Donuts I could take or leave. I drink Folgers, black at home.
Frankly, Id rather a bad cup of coffee at WDW then a great cup of coffee at work!

IMO the coffee at WDW in general is just awful. Even the "good" coffee at Kona in the Polynesian is spoiled by the God-awful Florida water.

One thing I noticed on my most recent trip ... the water seems to be worse the closer you are to the Magic Kingdom. Even foutain Cokes have a nasty after-taste in and around MK that seems to lessen at DHS or Animal Kingdom. The same seems to be true of the resorts.
