Is the coffee really that bad?

The coffee is truly horrid. If you drink coffee every day at home or work you may not be able to tolerate how bad WDW coffee is. We bring our own coffee and filters, and a Brita filtered water bottle. We fill the coffee pot with water that we run through the filter bottle.

We have stayed at Pop without a coffee maker a few times, and we suffered.

The coffee at the resort counter service places is not so good... but they do some sorta Disney magic to the cream that makes it unbelievably tasty. Black coffee is blech, but you cream it up and it's delicious. It's like a dessert coffee. :rotfl:

::yes:: I totally agree. I am with the minority of those who actually love this coffee with cream. I am a Starbucks latte drinker at home (wi$h I could break that habit $$$), but at WDW have no problem with their coffee :drinking1

The coffee is take it or leave it..if it weren't for the drug dogs at the airports and my unsubstaniated /paranoid fear of them confiscating my coffee I would bring my own. DW and I are Starbucks fans - but here in Canada Tim Horton's rule. When we stayed at the Poly we found the coffee to be decent. Of course the Kona coffee is good so maybe they drain the pots after into Captain Cooks:rotfl2: ...And the coffee in AKL was good too..maybe same thing applies - the good African coffee purcolates downward...however we have dined at the Cape Mae cafe and had coffee there and it was scarily awful. It was brown ( somewhat) but after that the resemblance to coffee ended.

Same thing applies at the other dining venues...the quality is not consistant..however I agree with the poster that said that a bad cup of coffee at Disney is 100% better then a good cup at work anyday.:thumbsup2

We're not coffee connoisseurs same goes to Florida water, but for the length of our stays I can drink the coffee. We're not going to die or run off to find something to our preference and we can take it or leave it when it comes to " I have to have coffee in the morning". Food court coffee is fine, one cup good to go, rest of the day, lemonade, iced tea and beer. We stay deluxe and use what they leave, 40 trips and still couldn't tell you the brand name or care. What gets me are posters that say its horrible but put tons of cream and sugar in it so how can you actually say the coffee is bad, maybe the cream and sugar is. I take mine black and can drink Disney coffee, I can also drink from Disney fountains and other water sources and never buy, store or purchase bottled water.

Hurray! Someone who finally has my point of view!

I think that the Disney coffee is just fine. Besides, I don't have to make it, it's plentiful, and it's hot!

I agree that Disney coffee isn't the best, but we were able to split a cup or two in the am. After that , there are places around property to get better coffee. I was also suspicious that the cream isn't cream, but liquid cemora. I find the Nescafe more tolerable if I added milk to it.

The Swan/Dolphin was already mentioned. Pop had a coffee bar, but I think they are changing that area. CSR has a coffee bar. Poly has a coffee bar - but I think it's only open in the am. When I tried to get coffee around dinner time, it was nothing special. (I asked if they could do a to go cup from Kona cafe. I think they brought up the stuff from downstairs. The same Nescafe as elsewhere, not the nice Kona coffee press stuff they to tableside at Kona.)

is the coffee that is served Club Level also nescafe liquid????? or is it brewed fresh from ground coffee...inquiring minds want to know!

We were at the Poly two weeks ago and had the best coffee ever -- Kona coffee (need I say more?). It was the best coffee I have ever had. My husband went to Captin Cook's each morning and got all the adults in our group their coffee. Everyone of us finished every last drop; it was that good! SO....if you get a chance, take a trip to the Poly and enjoy their coffee!

This just in:

'Nescafe Liquid' is apparently pumped down the Alaskan pipeline, along with that mysterious cheesy goo served on the nachos at San Angel Inn in Epcot !

Word to the wise.

To quote Huey Lewis - "Sometimes BAD is BAD":surfweb:
LOL...very true. I am someone who loves Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee-I can't help it, here in RI there's a DD on every other street corner. I like Starbuck's but I get their specialty drinks-I think you could strip paint with their regular coffee!:scared1:

That being said, I can drink the coffee at the resorts, but I have to doctor it up. I make iced coffee when I'm in WDW too. I just fill the refillable mug with ice up to the top, and then add the coffee. Just the right temp and the ice cuts the bitter nasty flavor slightly. I get some strange looks at the resort while doing this, but I don't care.
:surfweb:

We just came back from a week at AKL, and we had coffee every morning at The Mara, and have to say that it was pretty good!! The coffee at Crystal Palace was rather nasty.

Sort of a related question... Does anyone know if there is ANY way to get a coffee maker in one's room at a value resort? I would gladly pack my own coffee and filters if I could just somehow get a pot to use! I'd even pay extra for it!

I am actually ok with the Nescafe at Disney and will drink it here and there. :earboy2: But my real beef is that it takes too long in the morning to stand in line to get a cup at the food court at the value resorts. We're the type that likes to get to the parks ASAP in the morning, and DH already thinks it takes me too long to get ready without an extra stop for a cuppa joe. (DH doesn't do coffee)

One thing I try to do is when I go to Marketplace, I get a cup of McDonald's coffee...IMO, it's the best...but, I do drink the other stuff for the week I am there...and so far, I am fine:)

I am looking at this situation too and I think a travel press is the way to go! We are staying at ASM and I will just get hot water from the food court in the am, crawl back to the room and bring my own ground coffee! Both Starbucks and Caribou coffee sell them.

I have come across a few posts with people saying that the coffee is pretty bad at most resorts and parks...is this really true? I LOVE my coffee in the morning so the thought of an aweful cup of coffee doesn't make me very happy. :( We are staying at ASMovies for the first four nights and I know there isn't a coffee maker in the room so I was going to bring a little single cup maker but how am I going to get boiling water, unless I go to the food court right? I hope I am making sense!!!! My DH also loves to drink hot tea so we will definitely need boiling water!

TIA!
My husband and I are coffee drinkers. We bring a small coffee pot with us each trip. Our son also likes to drink warm green tea so we make that in that also.

I find the coffee "ok" at best. You can't beat the coffee at the Kona Cafe. I think it is the best on property.

Here's the deal:
Poly --Kona coffee --very good.
AKL--coffee, very good (they use Kenya AA! and french press)
Coffee stands at Epcot and AK --okay, iced coffee very good.
Swan/Dolphin -so-so Starbucks (but they have Krispy Kreme donuts!)
In room packets you make yourself--this one is tricky: the "Premium" packets are okay, the trick is you need to use bottled water, and you need to buy cream (real cream).
POR-Riverside food court (coffee was surprisingly quite good)
iIf you have a car, there's a Dunkin' Donuts on Rte 535.

Yes, I'm a coffee snob. I only drink one or two cups now, so they'd better be good ones! I grind my own beans every day at home. Now, I just carry a ziplock bag of coffee everywhere I go--and my own coffeepot. I purchase half and half at the gift shops. (I also bring an electric teapot which I absolutely love.)

Here's the deal:
Coffee stands at Epcot and AK --okay, iced coffee very good.

Adding... I had the best iced coffee of my life in Italy @ Epcot.

My advice is to take advantage of the places where you can get real coffee when you can. I think you could probably do that at least once a day without too much of a hassle.

- Epcot and AK are easy

- You could swing by the Poly on your way to MK

- If you're having breakfast at Chef Mickey's go to the CR lobby first and buy one from Contemporary Grounds

- DHS... Hmm... :scratchin
