Is the Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins - New World Wonder Port Excursion worth the 2 hour trip to get there

Looking for feedback about this DCL Port Excursion. It's a lot of travel time. Just want to know if it's worth it. Thanks
IMHO, NO! I have been to Chichen Itza and it is a remarkable place. However, we were staying at a resort in Cancun and took a tour from there. I would not make this trip as a cruise excursion from Cozumel. It is too long a distance for so little time at the site.

All,
Is Disney no longer doing Tulum? That was a great one as well. Not as monumentous at Chichen Itza, but impressive nonetheless, and a MUCH shorter bus ride. I need to check their website. Our next cruise is Bermuda, so the Western has been off my radar for a while.

I would say no. Chichen Itza is amazing, but not for 7 hours of travel. Like others have said, do Tulum if it is available. Short drive, beautiful site on the ocean. I have never had a problem with the ferry and even my husband who gets very seasick only felt mildly ill for a few minutes. I've never seen anyone vomiting the four times we've done the ferry.

The Tulum tour is available on our upcoming cruise, although had already sold out at the 90-day window. The Chichen Itza tour, however, was listed on the Cruise website, but not as an available tour for our particular cruise.

We did Tulum. Our kids loved it! They swam in the ocean after. We found the ferry ride to be fine (not choppy at all!!!). It was also only about 1/2 hour.

This question is subjective. If you are a history buff, then this is great. I personally, am fascinated by the Mayans. I could not be that close to such a great part of history, and not see it (you can go to a beach anywhere). We just loved it!!! Only you know what is right for your family.

Yes. Great post. Thanks.

We too have been there. :thumbsup2

Oh wait, Tulum or Chichen Itza ?

Two totally different destinations BTW.

Both require different parameters.

But both do require "the ferry" .... if docked in Cozumel.

Both wonderful destinations. One closer than the other I might add. lol.

Each traveler must decide, debate, and weigh all the factors.
Some may sail freely. Some may not.
Some days the seas are fine. Some days they are not.

After a few days at sea , perhaps some desire a travel day through the jungle.
For an hour of Mayan Influence. The travel alone will be memorable, ironically.

Others may desire an alternate path.

It's all good. There are choices.

I wish all sailors the best. Regardless of your preferred mechanism of travel.

Hi Bear!!!!
Great post!!! I was suggesting a much shorter bus ride to Tulum. CI is magnificent! We did see that on a trip to Cancun. I was actually surprised Disney offered CI since it is so far!

To me (having seen both), Tulum is a happy medium. But you are correct, not for all.

This is how we saw CI as well. I am actually very surprised Disney is offering this as an excursion, as it being so far. It is, however really magnificent to see.
