Is the BW view worth the extra points vs SV?

We will be staying in a studio for 9 nights this September. I am hoping to stay at the BWVs. If you had a choice would you choose BW view or SV? It is our first time staying at the BWV. We will be staying in a studio and have 2 small children. Thanks and please post any pictures of you have them.

IMO no.

I would rather have 7 days(lower # of pts per day) in a SV vs 6 days in a BWV.

But we spend very little time in our room.

The last SV room we had was a view of the swan/Dolphin which was IMO a very nice view.

Since you have small children, I would assume that you won't be spending many late evenings at the parks. If that's true, it would be nice to be able to see some fireworks from your balcony after the kids are asleep (or for them to see right before bed, LOL)..

While some standard view studios will give you that, it's guaranteed with the Boardwalk view. I'd go with the BW view if you can get it. It costs the same as the other Preferred VIew rooms, but is a separate booking category. It is not a request.

Some things you should know:

20% of the resort is Standard View - the rooms go quickly (but if there is a time of year they will be available at seven months, September is a good bet).

Boardwalk View is another 20% of the rooms....also go quickly.

If, when you book, 40% of the resort is full, you'll be in preferred view rooms (because they book last - few people won't take a Boardwalk View or a Standard View over a Preferred View - I suppose there are a few. I don't even LIKE the Boardwalk View and I'd take it over Preferred - you know what you'll be looking at).

Using the waitlist day by day is a good technique if what is available isn't there when you call - rooms often free up. I hate doing that to move to standard though - because the leftover points are likely to hit our use year after our banking window closes.

The Preferred View rooms are the same point cost as BW View - and the same cost as any room at VWL or BCV (including the notorious VWL dumpster view). It isn't that they are a bad deal - its that the guarenteed view is a good deal.

We like Standard View rooms - the view is fine, and we had a bad BW View room for fireworks anyway (better is farther down the hall and higher up - we were right above the Screen Door).

I just booked preferred studio for August. ( I needed to use the points anyway) Are there rooms with bad views?

In MHO the best views in Disney are the boardwalk views. Well worth the extra points to me.

Any room at BWV is better than my living room. :lmao: The real question is if the STD views are worth the discount. I think so. However, we have stayed BW views and loved them! You can't go wrong either way!

Make sure you check out the performers on the boardwalk from 7 til (9-10pm?). You're kids will love them!

Go for the board walk view, you know what view you will get. Lots of action and people watching when relaxing in the room. If you do go for the view request upper floors and close to elevator. The walk to end rooms is very long. At night BC and yacht club all light up, boats on the lake and entertainment on the board walk. If you don't spend time in the room, when you do guaranteed beautiful view.

Apparently, there are bad preferred views - there are a number that are very close to Standard View rooms - so you have pretty much a standard view room that you paid preferred view points for. There are a few that are in odd corners - which make their windows look back at the building (and other rooms). There are a few that are tucked behind the Keister Coaster (those may be classed as Standard View rooms), and there is a contingent here that claims anytime you need to look at the scary clown slide its a bad view (I think they read too much Stephan King).

There are pretty much no bad Boardwalk View rooms - though there are (IMO) better Boardwalk View rooms (higher floors, end of building - the best views are the furthest from the elevator and you'll be hiking for the view).

What to do, what to do! I have to add another day by day reservation tomorrow. I worry the Boardwalk view would be noisy..Is it?

I guess we're in the minority here... neither DH or DD nor I like the Boardwalk views. Had one over Jellyrolls one time.... too noisy... had another over Big River Grille another time... still noisy. And, I hate sitting on the balcony and having people down on the boardwalk looking up at me while I'm reading my book!
We always try for standard... so far we've been pretty lucky.. we've had some really nice villas that are what others would probably consider a long, long, trek from the the elevators but we usually walk to MGM often and it's easier to just go in the closest door and up the stairs.

We had a second floor BW View last July and I was very surprised at how quiet it was. Watching the fireworks while in bed...priceless! Great way to top off an early night.

I have stayed in all three views at BWV, and I have enjoyed all three!

I like people watching on the Boardwalk... I like watching all the different cars that drive up (a lot of Hummers) and I liked looking down at the pool....

None of the views were noisey once the doors were closed, although on one trip I did hear the bell from the side show games going off on the Boardwalk, but it stopped at 11.... And all three rooms we heard the fireworks going off...

Regarding BW (and standard) views - I would call MS soon to see if are rooms in your preferred category still open. I agree that you may luck out with a SV in September.

Then, CALL DAILY for the reservation. Do not call at the 7 month mark upon checkout. This is what I did for our August trip for our SV and it worked out.

my husband loves his BW view when he's not there I would want stad and save points

I think noisy is a relative thing. We found that with our BW View room the noise was noticable, but not disturbing, with the doors closed. The bells from the games in particular. Other people don't notice them at all, and others think its far too noisy and disturbing. Your room location probably contributes (we had low floor, right above the Screen Door - near a game with a bell and the boat) as well as what you are used to at home (we live in the 'burbs, back when I lived in the city I wouldn't have noticed at all - from my parents country where no one drives by its loud), and what hours you keep (sound asleep when Jellyrolls lets out, probably won't notice it - trying to get kids to sleep as Illuminations starts - its loud).
