Is the Beach Club worth the money?

I'm just trying to justify spending almost $400 per night on a standard room at the Beach Club. We have been to Disney before but never stayed on-site (except for maybe a night at All Star Music - way back when).

We are planning on visiting Epcot and making use of Storm-along Bay (I have to admit, that's why I really want to stay there.) We are planning on staying 2-3 nights and then we will move to a time share for a week (about 10 minutes away from Disney).

I feel like I just have to experience staying at a Deluxe resort just once.

Is it worth it? Or should we stay at one of the Value or Moderates? or skip it altogether and stay at the timeshare for the whole time.

If we do decide on the Beach Club does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the most out of our stay there? We have 2 daughters (8 and 6) and will be traveling at Easter time 2003. We were at Disney a few years ago (staying off-site) and have already seen the Magic Kingdom, MGM, and a portion of the Animal Kingdom but we do plan on visiting at least the Magic Kingdom again.

Thanks for your help.

The Beach Club is one of my favorites. I think that you can probably get a better price than this. What time of year are you planning to go? We stayed at the Beach club last august (value season) in a waterview concierge room for about $300. You could check with Dreams Unlimited or check the various codes currently out there to see if you can get a better price.
We found that the concierge room at that price was definitely worth the money since my kids took advantage of the lounge all day long.

I feel that the Epcot resorts area is the best location in WDW. You can walk to Epcot and MGM (or take a quick boat trip) or walk to the Boardwalk. There's so much to do around there and you can't beat the pool. It would be worth the cost for us.

If you're the type to get up early, keep on the go all day and just come back to the room to sleep at night, then it might not be the best choice for you. But if you plan on spending a little more time in your room, maybe relaxing in the afternoon or taking a swim, you will love the Beach Club and the surrounding area.

The BC is a great resort, and it's so much fun at Easter! One of the benefits of staying on site, is that, unlike many timeshares, Disney has special activities for Easter.

DS really enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt at BC this year. We actually called it the "Candy Attack", since there were few eggs to be seen. CMs just stood in the middle of the corded off area, and dumped 1000's (literally) of packages of candy on the lawn. It was a madhouse! The kids had a blast though, and that's what it's about. Also, IMO, you can't beat SAB and B&C... and Cape May has my favorite Character Breakfast... and it's such a short walk to Epcot, the Boardwalk and even MGM... can you see why we bought into BCV???

Just got back from the 3 nights at the BC and 3 nights at GF the last week of March (Easter was the 31st). We loved BC!!!! Our kids are 4,5&6 and they absolutely loved the pool and slide and DH and I loved the atmosphere with the Boardwalk etc. We looked everyday for a better deal (we paid $379 including tax with the DC discount). Definately join the DC if nothing else, you also save on passes. It is a lot of money when you know other times of the year it is ALOT less, however the weather is great at that time, and you don't have to take the kids out of school. It is worth the money for sure!!!

I can't say if it's worth it (as long as our kid isn't in school we can go for much less), but I would suggest that you use a travel agent who knows how to get discounts like Dreams Unlimited (the sponser of this site). While it is unlikely that you will find a great discount for easter, DU will tell you if something does become available.

I think that AAA and disney club might get you enough of a break to cover the tax. These discounts will probably become available sometime in the Fall of 2002. Every little bit helps & makes you feel better about spending a lot of money :)

I just talked a friend out of going Thanksgiving week and to go late in August instead - she took advantage of the discount code currently on the WDW page and got the Beach Club for $209 with tax/night. For that kind of rate, it's worth it!
