Is The Beach Club THAT awesome?

I have been doing some research and the SAB just blows the poly volcano pool out of the water (hehe). I think I'd rather give up ohana and choose something closer to BC. Can you see any fire works from the boardwalk resorts? Now Im wondering if we should do POR and just hang at the pool all day and do DTD for dinner/shopping.

Well if Ohana isnt mand than yea BC all the way. You can see Illuminations from quite a few spots-or even walk up to IG.

My family of 5 will be doing a one or two night stay next April before our cruise. We would really only have all day Saturday to do anything. We debated on staying at a value or moderate resort and getting passes to MK but DH would really rather just hang out and relax at the pool. In that case, I am now wondering if we should book BC for their awesome pool. Its obviously significantly more money but would it be worth it? POR is nice and all, but BC pool area looks amazing! How is bus transportaion compared to POR? I found POR bus service horrible. We would only use the bus system to go to Poly for Ohanas dinner.

Also, how is the breakfast at BC?

Oh definitely go with BC! The pool is great and the resort is absolutely beautiful. Bus will be better than POR because it is a much smaller resort. Buses at POR make something like five different stops and I believe BC only has one bus stop.

Have fun at Ohana it's one of my favorites.

Yes you can see Illuminations from many spots. you can even walk right up to the entrance to the countries and watch it from there. One of our favorite things is watching a movie on the beach at night while Illuminations is happening. Or renting a bike and riding around the water during Illuminations. Even though I love Ohana, I'd change your ADR and eat at BC, YC, or along the boardwalk. Then save room for ice cream later and eat at a table at the pool.

Like the others have already said, BC is a wonderful choice if you are wanting to hang out by the pool and just relax...this is our favorite deluxe resort so far. We love everything about BC...SAB is awesome, Beaches and Cream has great ice cream concoctions, Cape May Cafe character breakfast is one of our favorites (it's a must do for us), the decor in the rooms are pretty, staff is very nice and always helpful, and we just love the atmosphere all around there. Also it is a boat ride/walk away from the BW where you can spend your evening watching the performers or going and getting a pastry from the bakery or an ice cream at the ice cream parlor.

I also like the idea of you checking out the Poly. You can't beat walking along the beach with Cinderella's castle in the foreground :goodvibes. I haven't stayed there since I was a kid in the 80's but will be bringing my DH, DD11, and DD9 there for the first time on our upcoming trip. We have visited the resort many times, but I am very excited to come back and stay there with my family.

There are a few breakfast options at the BC (and nearby YC)

That's right - GC has a wonderful buffet and all for $16pp. Went there last year for breakfast and was pleased to find eggs benedict on buffet menu - they were really good too. This past May we had the Mother's Day brunch buffet - wow! I loved all the desserts - ate enough of them for the entire table. LOL If you're on a budget this is a great deal and a great meal.
