Is the BB worth it?

Does anyone know if the Flying Dutchman ever came back? Now that was a tasty treat!

I used to love the crab and shrimp in a puff pastry. That's been years ago though, and it's no longer on the menu.

I just had lunch there this past Saturday. We had a table near the kitchen but the atmosphere was still great! We got the Monte Cristo and paid the $12.00 to split it. I got the salad and my friend got the soup. We both received the full sides of potatoes and veggies. It was more than enough to eat! The bill came to $50.00 including the tip! I'd say that it was worth the $25.00. We did not get dessert because we wanted to get that elsewhere in the park.

We had lunch there on Saturday as well. We got a table by the water - without even asking for it. I had the chicken and it was delicious.
It was worth the cost but was the only place that wouldnt allow DD (10) to have the childrens menu. We were told at first that she could order from it but had to order a double portion and pay adult prices, then we were told it wasnt worth having one as everything was the same as on the adult menu anyhow apart from the mac n cheese (which it wasnt as the chicken was different)
In the end she ordered from the adult menu and really enjoyed it

Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans each have their own kitchen. I've been in both.

Thanks for enlightening me. :) A CM actually gave me the info. We couldn't get into BB one tim.e, and the CM told us to go to CO since the montecristo we wanted came out of the same kitchen. :confused3

From what I heard, they had problems with their supplier who made the sail (and the treasure boxes for the creme brulee), so they no longer have them. That was ds1's favorite when we went last, and I keep hoping they'll get it back. Otherwise, there really isn't anything "special" dessert wise anymore. Though we'll probably still get dessert when we go just to have an excuse to sit and enjoy the ambience longer!

We are not so much into the atmosphere, but we love the Monte Cristo, we love to save a few dollars and just go to Cafe Orleans. I just booked a 2P< reservation for 11.21 after our band plays to out at CA adventure and it will be a wonderful way to spend the rest of the day!

I had really high expectations for Blue Bayou, but I was really disappointed...
The service was alright, the atmosphere was great, but the food was boring and kind of gross. It tasted almost like cafeteria food (I tried the short ribs and steak). So naturally, the 100 dollar check felt really ridiculous. the quality of the food wasn't any better than what you'd get at River Belle Terrace or the French Market... in fact I think the food at French Market tastes better.

But I do recommend everyone to try it at least once because everyone likes different flavors, but as for me... the next time I go I'll just be getting the appetizer and desserts while enjoying the atmosphere... and maybe in a few years I'll go back to try a different entree.
