we are literally saving every nickel and dime for our december trip. just wondering if spending the $22 to access tour guide mike's info is a good investment in y'all's opinion. is there info there that i could not find here on the DIS? thanks!

For anyone on a tight budget I suggest sticking to the free info, like you find here.

There is a discount code on this site for $3.00 off Tour Guide Mike -

http://www.themouseforless.com/memb...-oriented - planning is half the fun for me!)

I think there was a $4 discount code on Mousesavers.com. I think a $20 investment for a trip that costs so much and helps you have a super trip is well worth it. I followed his advise last May/ June ( I didn't do an exact itenery but I used his tips) and I waited in line more than 10 minutes maybe twice on a 10 day trip! I was skeptical at first but I just signed up for my next trip. I found a lot of really helpful info that I haven't seen elsewhere. He also explains why he recommends things and he is quite funny to read too! Some people say that they have seen everything on other free boards but I know I learned a lot that I hadn't seen elsewhere. His site does require some navigating to find things but I think it is well worth the money.

I guess my question is "When in December are you going?"

If you are going early in the month, then you might be okay without TGM.

However, if you are going over the holidays, then TGM is well worth the price. In addition, there are some discounts available which can bring the price down for you.

We used it Christmas week last year, and I am now a convert.

Public libraries often have copie of the Unofficial Guide to Disney World. That's a LOT of info (and many touring plans) for free.

No it's not worth $22 in my opinion. I feel like I didn't learn anything new and don't see what's so great about TGM. :confused3 I would just use the info you get on the DIS. Everyone will be happy to answer any questions you have and you'll find everything you need to know here or on www.allearsnet.com :flower:

If your budget is that tight, don't spend the money. As others have mentioned, there are web sites like DIS that give you all the info you need for free. People tend to over plan anyway and whenever we had an itinerary we found ourself more often than not trashing it after a day or so. We would get there and the kids wanted to do something different or this or that was too crowded or we wanted to do this a second time. You get the picture...smjj

If you are going at a busy time.. then I think that TGM is invaluable.

We have had 13 or 14 two to three week trips to Disney since 87, and we learned invaluable stuff at TGM that we didnt find anywhere else and I was an avid reader of other books - and websites.

I agree that the main stuff is available elsewhere for free.. but some of his planning info I have not seen anywhere else.

If you are going at a busy time.. then it would be worth it imho..
If you are going at a quiet time, you wont need it.

I feel its a waste. Way too much free tips, plans and advice out in the world. The library has Birdbaums Disneyworld for the taking, very good starting guide and these forums are the best. You don't have to really post question but just read posts that interest you. A tip sheet is like the tipster sheet at the race trak, what does this guy really know, Disney is not some secret area like area 51 and its a vacation resort, you'll have fun, do most everything there and will return year after year to find out more on your own. You'll have your favorite and not someone elses.

Hi Pepe,

I see you're from Hubbard. I'm from Youngstown, living in North Carolina now. Let me know if there's ever anything we can help with for a Disney trip.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

I love TGM and have used his site for each trip taken to WDW. I agree, that if you are going during a busy time of year, his trips are great. I would use the coupons available for a discount. The free sites and the DIS Boards are a great resource, but I like the way he updates the information and it is all in one spot. Thanks

TGM is worth the investment with the first scan thru. And to really get your money's worth follow Mike's Step by Step plan for the best vacation you have even taken to WDW. If you follow the plan you WILL NOT stand in lines more than 5/10 minutes and WILL GET TO SEE AND DO EVERYTHING ON YOUR LIST. I guarantee it.
As a WDW visitor since the MK opened, I thought I knew it all. But, believe me, I did not. Now I know Mike's plan and use it each trip and have been and done everything on my list even at Christmas time. ::MickeyMo
It works. Just don't skim thru and start clicking on the links. Take it step by step. You cannot get the valuable info from any source other than TGM's AVP. I had purchased all the books, checked out the other web sites, including this one, and will re-subscribe when I get back this June to be ready for my next trip. Like I said. Try iT and see. Worth every penny and then some.

oops, thought the first one didn't go thru. Sorry.
TourGuideMike's AVP is definitely worth every penny and then some. :cool1:
Don't just skim thru clicking on link after link. Take it step by step and I guarantee you will have the most wonderful trip you have ever taken. You will not stand in line over 5/10 minutes and you will get to see and do everything on your list, and then some. :earsboy: :earsgirl:
You will receive information not found in any books or any other web site. That is a promise. ::MickeyMo
I have geen going to wDW since the MK opened and thought I knew it all. But guess what, I didn't. Since using Mike's AVP I have had the most perfectly perfect vacations in my imagination, even at Christmas time.
Try is and you'll see. Mike will refund your money if you aren't satisfied. But don't just skim thru, like I said, take it step by step. Then jump around.
Also you will find the nicest, friendliest and knowledgeable people on the forums. Always willing to answer questions and even the man himself will answer questions personally.

What does your $22 get you? Can you visit the site over and over again, or is it once through the web site for $22? Do you get detailed touring plans? Does he build in an afternoon break?

y'all have been super helpful. we are going december 1-8. so, from what i understand, not a busy time. i did pay $7 for touringplans.com, so i may just stick with that, the DIS, and allears for this trip. i'll try tgm if we go back at a busier time, maybe. thanks again!

TGM is the most useful resource I've found for WDW trip planning. I can't recommend it highly enough. He does provide sample tour plans that includes an afternoon break. He also gives you the reasoning behind the tour plans (why this park on this day and why these rides at these times) in case you want to move things around or you get "off track" so to speak.

I've used every resource out there pretty much (Passporter, UG, birnbaum's, the Aero guide, these boards and others) and the info from TGM has given me the best vacation I've ever had at WDW.

The fee is refundable if you aren't satisfied and you will have access to the website up until so many days after your vacation (like 60 days after or something).

If you like to plan your vacation and know what you're doing - TGM is the way to go. If you like to fly by the seat of your trousers then I wouldn't recommend it :earboy2:
