Is Test Track ever open?

We just returned from Disney AGAIN without riding Test Track. Closed on account of rain. Last time, we just happened to go during the WEEK they were closed for refurbishment...the time before, it was being built or still working out the kinks.
I JUST WANT TO RIDE THE TEST TRACK!!!! Has anyone else ever riddenthe thing?
(End of vent!)

We have rode it the past 3 trips, only missed the riding on the first trip because the line was 2 hours long and no more Fast Passes were available that day. Great Ride! You will love it, just had some tough luck getting on obviously. :goodvibes

I believe Test Track is one of the most temperamental attractions at WDW. I never had a problem being able to ride until my last trip in Feb 05. It was down during EMH and when we went back the next morning it was open, but experiencing difficulties. It is my SO's favorite ride, so we waited it out and were able to get one ride in, but normally we are able to ride several times each trip. It is a great attraction, I hope you will get to ride it someday. Just another excuse to go back.

I've been very lucky with TT. Have always been able to ride it on the first attempt and the day it was planned for. Even in Dec. 2002 where it felt like it rained the whole time. Got my ride in 5 minutes before the downpour started. Now that I have said this though I'll probably have no luck and never get back on TT again! :rotfl:

Myst

We've been on it several times, but as another poster said, very tempermental attraction. Of the times we have ridden it, it's broken down half those times. It can be a drag, but great ride!

Out of 22 attempts we have ridden it, without a breakdown, exactly one time. We have been rained out, temporary technical difficulties out, no more Fast Passed out, Single rider line closed out, lightning somewhere in the state of Floridad out; closed for no apparent reasoned out; closing early for a corporate partyed out; sorry no more people in line tonight out; broken down while riding (4 times); 3 lenghty stops mid-ride due to handicap loading.

OUt of all those attempts, 1 ride start to finish no stops, no hitches.

We call it the Test Track Curse.

Everytime we have been, we have been able to ride it...maybe about 20% of those times with break downs or delays during the ride. It sounds like your experience is like ours and the Matterhorn at DL. My DW finally got to ride it on what I think was her 3rd or 4th trip to DL.

We have never been able to ride it either. Every time it is broken or the weather is bad. We are determined to ride it this summer. It will be the first place we go to on our first day of the trip!

It better be working when I go this May!!!! I haven't been since '97 and I can't remember if it was there and just not operating or if it was still being built......HMMMM. Anyway, I'm looking forward to it!

:cool1: :flower: :flower:

We rode it first thing after the early entry the last time we were at Epcot, and it worked okay and everything, but I guess I just didn't get into it all that much. I dunno. I can see where if I was younger it would be cool. But I drive 70 mph every morning on my way to work, so the speed aspect just doesn't really thrill me. At least not for the wait time that always seems to be associated with it.

DW and I have already discussed just skipping it next time, which should add an hour or so to our time left to tour the rest of Epcot. It's not a bad ride, just not for us.

Everytime we go to disney (2nd year with annual passes) at Epcot we always manage to go to Test Track. Of course, we run there when the park opens.. I have ridden it many times and bought about 5 pictures there. It's just not your luck sorry.. it does break down a LOT though

I've ridden it many times. They can't run it if there is rain. I've only been on it once that it broke down.

We just got back and rode Test Track on Tuesday, just before noon. We had a fastpass, and the fastpass line was sure moving slow. It took us about 20 minutes to get through it. There were several times when the line wasn't moving at all. My husband and son also rode Test Track on Sunday. Definitely get a Fastpass if you want to ride and get it as soon as you get to the park.

We have been very lucky rode it many times and never had it break down. once while in line they closed it down said a bad storm was on the way we got outside it was dark and starting lightening. After reading about all of the break downs I hope our luck dosen't change.

yes test track is always open - EXCEPT WHEN YOU ARE THERE. They see you coming. Make all your reservations under someone else's name next time. :rotfl2:

OK just joking,. Sorry to hear you have had such a run of bad luck. They have to close it if the rain is too hard because the outside stretch of the ride accelerates pretty quick and a light rain is like being pelted with rocks at that speed.

We were riding Kraaken last year and they did the same thing for the same reason. If it was just a light rain they shut it down because strapped to a 60mph sled running head on into rain falling at the speed of gravity can be a serious bummer. Especially if that drizzle turns into a hard rain. Basically like having bricks thrown at you if it rains hard enough.

Bummer! DH and I got stuck on it last week when we were there. We sat in the tunnel for 15 minutes before they started it up again. We joked that it would've stunk to get stuck in the "heat test" room! They let us stay on and we got to ride it again!

As we were leaving, we overheard an Imagineer talking to a CM saying "If it goes down again, we're not going to be able to get it back up!" DH jokes that it IS a GM product, after all!! :flower:

Ridden it twice. My youngest DS's favorite ride. A definite must when it is open. :earsboy:

HEY.....I WORK FOR G.M. And to think I was going to offer to take you to the G.M. lounge and get front of the line passes with us. :p

:confused3 I am in the same boat. The last two times we went to WDW it was closed once for weather- right when we got to the front of the line (after waiting like 1 1/2 hours) it started lightning and they closed it down. We were supposed to be on the next car!! Then the last time it was broken down and never got back up and running before we had to leave. We hope to be able to ride this in November. It gets to be aggravating after a while.

I try to ride in the morning. Rain will shut it down so the spring and summer afternoon showers have quite an impact.
