Is Teppan Edo always so popular?

I think I am giving up on Mickeys BBQ and replacing it with 1900 breakfast and Teppan Edo. Atleast that would be the case if I could ever find an open slot for Teppan Edo! Is it always so busy? Is it really just because of free dining? Am I missing something else going on?

I know places will be overbooked now and just to wait until 30, 60, etc. days before but come on! I am trying three different days for early to mid September for lunch OR dinner!

Btw we have never been because there's always other places we'd rather go and we frequent a similar style restaurant at home often. Have you enjoyed your meal and atmosphere there? Can I just get the meat, veggies and steamed rice? The menu stated noodles and something else that didn't sound appealing to me.

Yeah, it is a popular place to eat. We found it was much more fun than your typical one at home. I'm sure you can ask for substitutions for things, it never hurts to ask. I'm sorry your having trouble getting an ADR; we wanted to go to Ohana and couldn't get a reservation either. Two very popular places to eat I guess!

The noodles are cooked with the veggies. I don't know if they can cook some separately or not. The rice is currently a beef rice, but I do believe they have plain white rice.
We like Teppan Edo. But lots of folks here state that if you enjoy a Japanese style steakhouse at home, you will be disappointed. They do not serve soup or salad with your meal.
Since the menu doesn't sound good to you, and you do enjoy a place near home frequently, I would definitely rethink this ADR if I were you.

Its a very popular place. For many visitors its a unique dining experience which sets it apart from many of the other choices around World Showcase.

interesting. I very easily made 2 reservations for an August Wednesday when we weren't sure when we'd make it there. We ended up canceling both as the kids chose 50s Diner instead....good luck!

I couldn't get Teppan Edo for any of my Epcot days when I booked first thing this morning but I checked again this afternoon and lots of times showed up on the same dates I was looking for this morning. Keep checking and maybe one will open up for you!

Many love the fun experience of Teppan Edo and food is quite good. That said, I find it pales in comparison to any of several Teppan places around my home town and other cities we visit. Food portions while sufficient are less and chef's entertainment isn't as good (this does vary with each chef). If you do not have a Teppan restaurant in your city then Teppan Edo would be a great choice and its an easy favorite if you have kids.

Are you able to get any of the entrees available here while on the ddp? Can you order the combinations (steak and shrimp, etc)or do you have to order a single protein?

Guess I must be in the minority, but we had no problem booking a same day ADR at Teppan Edo. Of course we were just doing lunch, but I often see same day availability so it seems odd it would be booked up
