Is Sunday the best day?

To get your mind off the dining PS issue, some food for thought...

If one theorizes that most folks avoid that wkend pts hike, so they check out before a wkend (or suck it up and just pay pts for wkend), and then in turn most folks would check in on the first "low pts day" (that being Sunday), and considering that now it's first come, first served, does it also stand to reason that if you want your best shot at a particular room, you set up your ressie for a SUnday and show up somewhat early that day?

I'm nearing the date to make our ressies for next year and had planned to show up on a Mon or Tuesday, but now am thinking hmmmmm, maybe I should shift it to a Sunday arrival. We've always done Sunday arrival before so I have no real idea how it would be for a mid-week arrival.

I have been wondering the same thing. We are checking in on a Friday 1/2 for our first trip to BCV.because that is the way our travel dates happened to fall. I'm hoping some of the Holiday crowd and the Sunday thru Thursday folks will be checking out that day, so maybe more location choices might be available. Since it is our first trip to BCV, I'll be happy with whatever location we get.

Can't say for sure but I would also guess that Friday & Saturday check-ins would be the best bet. Fewer DVC members might equal more choice.

I don't think it's purely first-come, first-served. They probably rough out where everyone will stay based on preferences and then might "re-arrange" if someone is unhappy.

It's been reported that there's a big turnover of rooms on Sunday, so there's a variety of rooms to choose from ---- also there's many people checking in with room requests.

We made 2 reservations in the past 15 months on very short notice (2-3 weeks) and got excellent rooms when we checked in on Friday. Once was late March and once was early May and neither were very busy times at the parks.

So which would be better: to be the early worm (but on a Monday) or to be a later worm (let's say 6 pm) on a Sunday??

I guess I should worry less about what room I get and more about what the heck I'm typin'....

I really don't think this it is critical which day you check-in. While it's true that many DVC'ers put off checking in until Sunday, I don't think those rooms are all vacant. Non-DVC folks are in the rooms and they may very well be staying beyond Sunday.

Lines are usually a little bigger on Sunday but that doesn't necessarily mean there is greater room choice.

We have aften checked in mid day on Sunday. Lately we have been checking in on Fridays, and I do think there is less activity at the desk on Friday at OKW. We tend not to worry about weekend points, since we only stay one weekend per trip anyway.

We almost always check in on Saturdays due to the Saturday night stay requirement the airlines have. We've done a combination of using the points for a studio (and then moving the next day to larger quarters), paying for a studio, and staying at one of the moderates.

On one occasion we were there for 2 weeks, with more family joining us the second week. We were at OKW in a 2 bedroom, checked out to stay at Dixie Landings for Friday and Saturday night and then returned to OKW on Sunday a.m. for another week. We checked in for our GV at 8:30 Sunday morning and it was ready, which really surprised me. The studio we had also booked was not available, though, which was fine since everyone could stash their gear in the GV until later. It worked out great for our group.

So would I be toast for selection on a Tuesday?

I'm not hard to please, really -- just want to know if I'd do myself any favors by arriving on a SUnday versus a Tuesday.

Do many folks check out early mid-week? I know we did last year (checked out on a TUesday...)
