Is SSR going to be a complete mess on January 1st?

I have a reservation right now from 12/29-1/2. I had to book TWO reservations, one from 12/29-1/1 and another from 1/1-1/2 because of the addition of the new "preferred" booking categories. MS told me that I'll have to check out and check back in. My 1/1 reservation is in a "preferred" studio and they will put a note in my reservation to put me in a studio that will be "preferred" but they can't guarantee I won't have to change rooms if they put me in a "standard" room.

What a PITB.

It just occured to me that EVERYONE (except those in the treehouses) who is booked over 1/1 will have to do the same thing! Do they really think that they will be able to handle the entire resort checking out and checking in on the same day in the same few hours? Am I missing something, or am I doomed?

It seems that the resort has more control of your actual reservation when you arrive than anyone in customer services can provide now.

I had a split stay with BCV to OKW. After getting a flyer about staying 1more night at BCV on cash, I asked (very nicely) about changing my OKW night so I could stay in the same room. The wonderful CM actually made it happen, but said I would need to stop by to check out and back in.

It would be in the resort's best interest to keep everyone in their same room...but they may need someone from the group stop by to check out then back in.

I could see how it could be a potential mess if not handled correctly.
