Is Spring Break Doable?

I am looking ahead to 2018 where Easter lands on April 1st. We can either go for 10 nights with an 8 day park hopper the 10 days before Easter, coming home the Saturday night before Easter or we could go for 10 nights in first half of June. My husband really hates the humidity so I am leaning towards Spring Break, but I know it will be crazy crowded. Has anyone done it and had fun? My plan would be to rope drop or early entry depending on park, then use our FP +, take an afternoon break and go back in the evening for a dinner and nighttime entertainment and some of the less of a headliner attractions. Do you think we could see most everything once if we did this? Or would it be better to go in June and deal with the heat? Opinions appreciated!

I would go spring break at the end of your trip it will be crowded but with a good touring plane you should be fine also 8 days in the park you can get a lot done

for the last 2 or 3 days I would just plane on doing a few ADR and your 3 FP hit the parks at RD have one ADR at 11 then another one at 6 do your FP between those two times then after dinner find some place to watch the night time show or do a shorter ride.

but I think it will be do able and fun just plane some and realize that the last few days will be slower

We have been in June several times. We have friends that went on Spring Break a couple of years ago, and dealt with MK closing to capacity about every day of their trips and crazy crowds- they said they had fun, but will not ever go back to Disney during Spring Break. We have not been at Spring Break, but we have been the week between Christmas and New Years which I would say would have comparable crowds. We had a great trip, but it was adults only and it was pre-FP+ which in my opinion (having had 3 FP+ trips) makes things a lot harder and standby lines longer even in lower crowd times. With kids, if I had a choice between June and either Spring Break or Christmas week, having been there during Christmas week, I would chose June every time.

I've been in April and in June and honestly didn't think the heat/humidity was much different.

I'd go in June rather than Spring Break/Easter week.

I've been at WDW for Spring Break and it's doable. I would recommend that you make FP+ for the evenings and hit another park at rope drop. Don't plan on being in the parks the whole day because they become too crowded to do anything.

June would be a much quieter time. I went at the end of June this year and we were shocked at how easy it was do to things compared to our usual Christmas/New Years (which is like Spring Break) vacation.

FYI, this year, the end of June was unseasonably low crowds.
Ride wait times (seriously) looked like September, not typical summer. it wasn't unusual to see multiple headliners with <30 waits.
There is no guarantee the end of June will ever be that pleasant, again.

To the OP, while I personally have absolutely no desire to go pre- Easter week, you have a long enough trip that doesn't completely freak me out.

Hundreds of thousands of people have fun on peak weeks like Easter and Christmas. Just be ready to join those hundreds of thousands of guests in the fun.

It was amazing! But, it's bound to be more pleasant than Spring Break.

OP, I would also suggest that you get 10-day PHs instead of 8-Day PHs. The difference is just $10 per day and you can go for a partial day and not feel like you're wasting a a whole day on a pass.

I'd go the first half of June. I agree that the heat/humidity is usually pretty much the same, but even if it wasn't, nothing is worse than Spring Break crowds.

I appreciate all the input. I would have to pull them out of school a few days for April, so maybe it's better to just go with June then. We have been in September, so we know what that feels like, I am assuming then June is more pleasant weather wise?

June and September temperature wise probably aren't that different. High temps are probably between 85 and 95 most days. I think September has more of a chance of longer and heavier rain with it being hurricane/tropical storm season. Every time we have gone in June, there have been quick little rainstorms that come through in the afternoon. Seems like around 3:00 p.m. or so it would rain for 10 to 20 minutes and be sunny the rest of the time. The only problem with that, is the rain would feel cool and be nice, but after the rain it would be steamy for a bit. Honestly, even if you go during other times of the year, you never know what you are going to get. One time we went in December and the highs were between 90 and 95 degrees every day of our trip except one. Another year we went in December and we were in shorts and the temperature was in the high 80s the first half of the week, but then a cold front came through and the highs were in the 50s an we were in gloves and coats the rest of the week. At least in June and August, you pretty much know what the temperatures are going to be!

I've been over spring break (the week beginning with Easter) for the past 7 years or so and have never seen the park close due to capacity. Spring Break is busy but still very manageable IMO. I would rather deal with a bit higher crowds over heat any day. We went in May 2003 and it was super hot and humid - I will never go back in that weather.

I think Easter itself is usually about the end of the spring break rush, isn't it? Isn't it usually the week before Easter that is one of the worst? We usually have our spring break the 2nd week of March. My friend- who lives in another part of the country- went the last week of March in 2013 (Easter was March 31st that year). Magic Kingdom went to a level 3 closure 4 days during their trip. Here is a Josh report from one of the days she was there:

I think it is usually the last 2 weeks of March that are the worst.

I would go in June. Spring break crowds looked like they were extra awful this year!
