This was probably the biggest "bummer" of the rehab. I personally liked being able to see the cars whizzing around the track and hear people screaming as they rode. With the added ceiling in the queue area, you can't see or hear a thing. I understand that this adds to the "mystery" of the attraction to new comers, but I really liked it before. But I like the fact that the ride is smoother and we all agreed that it seems a bit faster. The new arrangement for the FP and standby queues is nice too.

Our favorite ride at MK!

My daughter didn't want to go one morning - she thought it was boring. She's 6. So we ride swapped. And my son got to ride twice! Once in the front and once in back. He liked the back better. DD went on it again the next morning. It was cool again.

We rode it over 8 times in three days at MK. Can't get enough.

I saw the in-queue games but didn't get to try any because the wait was only 15 minutes when I rode. They looked fun though.

The big change that I did NOT like was the enclosed waiting/loading area. I loved how it was before with it being open to the ride so you could kind of see what was going on and hear the screams!

As for the ride experience itself, it's 99.9% the same. You just don't see the other cars going around since they took off the glow in the dark stripes.

I also hate how it's closed off from view when riding the TTA! Thumbs down for that!

It's not totally closed off, but about 75% of it is. They closed off the part of it where you normally would be able to see the queue area.

See I'm very happy they kept the ride mostly the same. I went in Sept. last and the ride was closed so I haven't had the chance to see it yet in it's "new" state. I believe Space Mountain is one of the few through-puts from one generation to the next. Sure, rides need to be spruced up and updated but I'm glad it didn't get a MAJOR overhaul. That way, my parents who rode it before my time in the late 70s experience basically the same ride with me in 2010. I'm hoping in another 10 years I can experience the "same" ride with my future kids!!

Is that cool queue music still there or did they change that? That spacey sound music?

We rode it two weeks ago and I didn't notice any change in the "feel" of the ride, it was as rough as ever. The seats were not any more comfortable to me and the new ceiling was a disappointment.

Ohhh, I know. They'd prefer their old rickity ride over a beautiful full sensory ride experience.

I was hoping they would change it to the DL version. My DH and I prefer the DL version and consider that one of our favorite rides at DL.

...from everyone that I've talked to who has ridden the newer DL version of SM, they ALL prefer the new version hands-down....
