Is Sesame Place worth it?

For a day trip outside Philly, can I also suggest:

Lancaster County (Amish country). Just driving around can be fun, seeing the horses and buggies etc. You can visit the Wilbur chocolate company (their "Buds" came before Hershey Kisses!) or... please, no jokes, the Intercourse Pretzel Factory - it's this little locally owned company where they show you how to make pretzels and let you try, then you get a sample. Stop for lunch somewhere for Shoo Fly Pie. Only about an hour outside of Philly. There's also Dutch Wonderland near Lancaster.

If your kids like the mall, there's King of Prussia. It's huge. You could walk for hours and never actually buy a thing.

The aquarium at Camden is nice. Just take the ferry right across from downtown Philly.

Philly itself has the Please Touch Musuem and the Franklin Institute, both great for kids.

Not too far from Dorney Park, which is in Allentown, you could make a trip to the Crayola factory in Easton.

Of course, the Jersey shore is also considered a day trip from Philly.

I should also mention--we LOVE the Philly Zoo! It's fairly small, as the city built up around it, so an easy few hours, not a ton of walking. Their website said they had a bunch of new "big cat " kittens (lion, cheetah, snow leopard), but I don't know when they arrived. We had really hoped to go there also during this trip, more for our older two kids, but our plans changed and now we're just doing Sesame. But again, check their website--I know last time we went (a few years ago), the kids rode camels, fed nectar to birds, and they have a balloon ride thing, too.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Of course my vote would be for Hershey Park!! IMHO it's way better than Sasame Place and with the new BW water area it blows it away! Check out my site:

I also love going to Lancaster County. Love Strasburg Railroad and the toy train museums! My kids love Hershey Park and Chocolate World too! OH, I'm craving those delisious chocolate chip cookies at the bakery in chocolate world!!LOL There is a lot to do for every age group, that's a big reason we love Hershey. My kids are 5 years apart and there are so many things for their age groups to enjoy! Also the park is very clean and the employees we've encountered have always been so nice and helpful.

I would say take the drive to Dorney. We live in Central NJ so we're about an hour from both parks. My DDs are now 7 & 9, Sesame Place is ok but they love Dorney - our strategy is go to the water park first thing when you get there and then after lunch go to the main park. It does get crowded with some inner city crowds (from NYC) on the weekends but it's not that bad if you just ignore them. We're going in August and then onto Hershey for a couple of days. Hershey is a great park with some fantastic roller coasters!

Have a great time whereever you decide to go!

Umm, I wouldn't go to Dorney Park and this is coming from a former inner city kid from NYC!!(the Bronx) No flames please, just thought I'd warn you about the type of people that go there. To put it nicely, just not a crowd you'd want your young children around. I'm not saying that that is all that is there, I'm sure there are some very nice families there, but they are not the majority.
