Is Sequoia worth the extra cost?

I'm very close to booking and am wondering what people think? Would I be better off with more spending money and staying at Cheyenne?
Is breakfast the buffet style? And will they do adjoining rooms?
Thanks!

All the hotels are buffet style breakfasts. The Sequoia lodge though you are shown to your table where as the Cheyenne you have to find your own.

I love the SL and nearly always stay there when I go. Not sure about adjoining rooms but imagine some of them are. Also depending on when you are going the SL has a swimming pool. I would say if its not much of an increase then I would stay there, its also closer to the parks. It has also had a major renovation in the past few years, Cheyenne hasn't yet.

If money is tight then stay at the Cheyenne and have more spends

Before we "discovered" the SQL we stayed at the Cheynne because my kids loved the bunk beds.

The minute we enter the SQL we felt in love with this hotel and we always stayed there ever since. Its perfect for us.

The rooms are great and to be seated at the breakfast is a great plus for us.

The swimming pool is great even we did not use it very often.

In the winter season there is no other hotel with such an atmosphere.

And its in a great walking distance to the village & the parks.

You see....SQL is the hotel for us and we will stay there again for the 4th time in a row March next year.

:worship:

I agree with all posted above. SL is has a lovely atmosphere and theme. I particularly enjoyed having a drink by an open fire at the end of a rather rainy day.

Its relative closeness to the parks and village is a big plus point too.

And yes, they have adjoining rooms. I was lucky enough to stay in a stunning corner room that was linked to our friends room.

Go for it :-)

The rooms are beautiful and feel a lot more fresh and Disney themed IMO. The whole setting is lovely and we enjoyed relaxing by the huge fire after getting in from the park. I personally would choose it over the Cheyenne but don't go blowing your budget either if the price difference is huge. The Cheyenne's outside theming is the best onsite and it won't be a huge disappointment if thats what you are afraid of. The pool at SL is pretty brilliant though and if you are a pool family this may be the deciding factor for you. We aren't really and only get one use out of them the majority of our stays.

The SAME cocktails in the SQL are much cheaper than the DLH or HNY.

Love the atmosphere and the fire in the winter is great.

There are adjoining rooms in the Sequoia, as there is in the Cheyenne.
I think the main differences are
Breakfast: same items, but Sequoia has individual yoghurts and fresh fruit salad not from a tin. You are shown to your seat, but it can still be busy. If you stay anywhere but the lodges, you don't need to leave the warmth to go to eat.
Pool: The Cheyenne doesn't have one. But if you are not worried, save your money and stay here ;-)
The bars: BOTH have fires lit in colder months, though the Sequoia is central in the bar. The Cheyenne drinks are slightly cheaper than the Sequoia.
Decor: Sequoia is fresh and the rooms are bigger, though the Cheyenne is still ok and the bathrooms have separate heating in them and it's boiling in Winter!
Air con: The Sequoia has a/c and it controllable via unit on the wall. It works brilliantly. Cheyenne has electric fires which are really warm in Winter. The ceiling fan is a little noisy and the person on the top bunk will get a good breeze, but remember it's just circulating the same air.

Thanks for the replies! I've just seen a family room at Newport Bay is about the same price as two rooms at Cheyenne! So now I don't know!!

The Newport Bay is being refurbished at the moment and the pool is out of action until end of October at the earliest and the renovations aren't due to be completed until September 2015. Depending on when you're planning to go I'd probably pick two rooms at Cheyenne over the one at Newport Bay and this is from someone who loves the Newport Bay! You'll also get two bathrooms :thumbsup2 and although DLP will say requests aren't guaranteed we've always been given connecting rooms when we've requested them.

Hiya, thanks for your reply. We're hoping to go jan 15, so mid renovation but I'm keen on a family room. We'd not normally be able to afford NPB... I'm guessing breakfast will still be available, surely they won't shut all the restaurants in the hotel?

In that case then go for the Newport Bay. :thumbsup2 It's not like you're not aware of the work, breakfast will still be available and who knows you may be lucky and get a refurbished room! :goodvibes
