I am trying to plan our first DCL Experience:Pinkbounc and was curious on how bad the weather is in September? Is the waters very rough and does it rain alot?Would it be better the last of August or first of September? We wll be going on a 7 day cruise.
Thanks,
Misty

Misty,

We've cruised during the last couple of weeks in Aug and during the first two weeks of Sept. Thus far, we've been lucky (knock on wood...) and we've had very good weather, BUT it is the beginning of hurricane season, so keep that in mind.

Also, the Captain will be monitoring the weather and if there is a storm, he may change the route to avoid it.

Other posters may have additional advice.

Have fun!!

I've cruised twice in Sept, and the weather is fine. We did have a rainy day this year the week after Labor Day, but after several rain-free cruises I figured I was just "due" for some liquid sunshine.

By the way, hurricane season is May 31 until Nov 30th, but there's nothing to fear. If a hurricane looks to be heading anywhere near the ports, the ship will simply cruise to somewhere else. For most cruises though, there's never any reason to divert to a different port.

Thanks for the replies.I am so worried about a hurricane:rolleyes: .we have been on 2 other cruises but they were 4 day cruises on Carnival.

Both of our past cruises were in September, and it was wonderful. One night, we had a good rain shower, but it was during dinner, so we didn't even notice.

Otherwise, the captain does a great job of sailing around rain. The weather is still quite warm, and the pool is perfect.

No worries!

We did the 9/13 western this past year. There were storms before us, after us and around us, but, we had smooth seas and a wonderful time. Would definately book a cruise in Sept. again.

We've cruised at the end of September several times. The weather is beautiful, the seas are not rough. However...twice, the ship did not go to the scheduled ports due to hurricanes. We went to different ports, had wonderful shore excursions arranged, and had a super time. We were able to go to Castaway Cay. The cruise desk staff really hustled to pull everything together for us, and we had a great time.

There were people who were very upset at missing the scheduled ports and were being very vocal about it....however, as the captain said....he was fully aware of the guest services aspects of his decisions, but "only a fool would steer a ship into a hurricane."

Bottom line, DCL provided us with a wonderful cruise...just not the one we thought we were getting. If you are able to be a bit flexible, Sept is a great month to cruise.

We were also on the 9/13/03 Western. It was great- very warm, we had a little rain in Cozumel, but besides that, good weather. We'd go again in September,no questions. The seas weren't rough, except for a little bouncing one night.

Anchors aweigh!
