Is Red Lobster Lobsterfest REAL lobster?

Langostinos are the size of shrimp. So I suspect not. But langostinos are delicious and currently more expensive than lobster.

Thank you. Admittedly, I have never seen or tasted langostinos. I'm trying to settle an argument between me & my DH. I have never been to Red Lobster, but I am a big fan of lobster (spent my childhood on Cape Cod). My DH says there is no way Red Lobster is real lobster and it is likely langostino meat. I'm not sure what to think.

I think your husband is wrong We've been going to Red Lobster since the 1970's if I recall and it's lobster I've had lobster at many places here now in FL decades in NY and in New England you know the taste of lobster Has he ever eaten there ? Really good

I was curious and looked up langostinos Learn something every day

I think YOU win the bet tell him to take you to Red Lobster for dinner ;)

LOL! I've been trying to get him to take me there since I met him because I love lobster! Our closest one is almost an hour away. He refuses to go, saying it's "McDonalds style seafood."

I'd say your DH is only half wrong- Red Lobster is only about one step up from McDs. I'd call it the Olive Garden of seafood restaurants. But he's definitely wrong about the lobster. If they were advertising lobster but actually serving something else they would be guilty of fraud. And langostinos are not lobster, despite their appearance.

I don't think those are langostinos in the tank we walk past when we eat there. And they did a pretty good job stuffing those langostinos into the lobster shell my son ordered.

Real lobster and better than you would expect for a mass chain. But the biscuits are the reason to go.

Of course it's real lobster. Whether or not it tastes as good as lobster from Cape Cod is another story, but it's still real.

I love going to Red Lobster, but I order shrimp. Janepod is right, though. The REAL reason you go to Red Lobster is for the amazing Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

I know right?! My family is addicted to those "crack" biscuits.

Here is another question for you all:

My mom lives in California. I live in Virginia. She loves to eat at Red Lobster when she visits me because she says they serve a different type of Lobster on the East Coast than they do on the West Coast. She likes the East Coast lobster better. I don't eat lobster so I have no idea what she's talking about. Do you guys know?

The Maine lobster served at Red Lobster is from Maine. They also have rock lobster tails. Not sure where they get that. If your mom wants east coast lobster, all she has to do is order the Maine lobster. The menu does list them separately.

Free yourselves from the bondage:

1 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/3 cup lard (or vegetable shortening)
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup sharp cheddar (shredded)
Melted garlic butter to taste

Sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening to coarse crumb consistency. Stir in milk (add more if needed to create a drop-dough). Fold in shredded cheese and drop onto baking sheet. Bake at 425F until risen and crusty. Remove from oven and immediately brush generously with melted garlic butter.

I've been meaning to try making my own biscuits at home but I have a feeling they won't taste the same.

I've only been to Red Lobster once and loved it! Especially those biscuits yum!
I want to try to make them too. (Food.com's recipe recommends Old Bay seasoning)

OP - I feel sad for you. Wouldn't your DH take you to RL on your birthday if you requested? Hope you get to go soon.
