Is PS available/needed for Trail's End

I'm visiting WDW in late August this year. I'm staying off site but would like to visit FW during my stay. Could someone tell me if I would need a PS to eat at Trails End for dinner?
Also how to find out the boat schedule from MK? I have a vague plan to go to MK then have early dinner at FW and return to MK for fireworks.

I don't know if you would need one, but I know that they do take them now. I just made one for breakfast for our June trip. If you know when you want to eat, it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and make one.

As for the boats, they run pretty continuously. I don't think we ever waited for more than 15 minutes. We love to head to the MK in the morning, take the boat to FW for lunch and some down time at the petting farm and stables, and then hop the boat back to the MK. It's a great way to break up the day. So, I think your plan would work out just fine.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge is also a great place for dinner (good food,fun atmosphere), and it is also just a boat ride away from the MK. If you haven't seen the Wilderness Lodge, it would be worth it just to get a look. It's our favorite place in all of Disney World!

Thanks for your reply. I think I'll make a PS just in case.
We visited WCC on our last visit and really enjoyed it - apart from DS who was then 11 who found it all rather embarressing.

(I loved WL and I think that will be where we'll stay in a few years time when we travel without kids.)

Hi!! Just got back from FW and was waiting for a drink at Trail's End. The wait for dinner was am hour. It was kinda dreary weather so I would take that in to account but the longest we waited for breakfast was 5 minutes. For safety sake, I think I would make the reservation.

Where exactly do you get a boat to FW? I would like to go to Trail's end for the buffet but not sure at all how to get there. Is it difficult to find once you embark?

We tried to go for dinner on Thursday night, and the wait was 45 minutes.

If you are at the MK take the boat to Fort Wilderness. When you get off the boat you will be at the settlement. It's a short walk (2-3 mins) I think there are signs directing the way but just head to the right. There is a playground right next to Trails End too.
