Is preferred at Pop worth the $?

We've stayed at Pop twice, but never stayed in a preferred room. Is it really worth the extra $15 per night, or could I request a room in non-pref but close to Classic Hall? I have stayed in the 50's and in the non-pref. 60's.

DD and I had a preferred room facing the Hippy Dippy pool in 2005. It was great as far as being close to food court but was very noisy (July). We actually ended up requesting and getting a room on the other side of the building to avoid the pool noise.

preferred view are generally facing the pool. I preferred the lake and walk a few more feet.

I don't think it's worth the price. The non preferred rooms are great throughout the resort.

I have to agree with the noise. I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to a preferred room and asked to be moved after 2 nights with little sleep. I glad I did not spend the extra $$.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe I'll try for one of the buildings adjacent to the preferred. I don't want to be by the pool, but it would be nice to be close to Classic Hall.

I think it really depends on which section you like best. I thought the 50's section was great. I've stayed in the 50's, 60's and 80's. I didn't find the walk from the 50's to be much more than the 60's. The 80's was a bit of a hike.

I don't really care about being closer to the pools, I just want to be closer to the main building. Last year we drove and was at the farthest building from the main building. We had to drive around to the front to eat, shop etc.

I say definitely not worth the price. We stayed in the 70s area (Mickey Phone building) and had a wonderful view of the lake. The only thing that took a while to walk to was the parking lot.

We also stayed in the 70's Mickey building, first floor, facing the lake. We loved it! There was little foot traffic/noise and we were very close to Classic Hall. We think we were even closer than some of the preferred. (rooms 6144/6145)

Of course we did have to deal with very demanding ducks every morning outside our door. ; )

We were in the Preferred location last week at Pop. 50's Section Building 1 Rooms 1106 and 1107. We loved the location. We were very close to Classic Hall and near (but not across from the Bowling Pin Pool). I would request and pay for this location again.

Okay, I’m not 100% sure on the exact distance, but I think the preferred rooms are within 500 feet of the center of Classic Hall. I know there is a specific radius, I’m not positive that’s it. It might be a little less. Anyway, the furthest room at Pop Century is 750 feet from the center of Classic Hall. Funny thing is, though – this room (in the 80s) is CLOSER to the buses and Everything Pop than some rooms in the 50s! In fact, given that all the rooms in the 60s that face the pool are Preferred, the ones on the far end of those buildings are probably just as far from the bus stops as the far corner of the 80s and 90s.

I do not believe the extra $$$ for a preferred at Pop is worth it. We've stayed at Pop 3 times so far and have always got a standard room and the rooms have always been great.
