worth the extra $$? We are trying to decide between POR and Pop for our trip next year. We will be booking in August so I need some help deciding. Does anyone have pics of a normal room so I can get an idea? Thanks.

I vote for POR. The room is bigger & it has a fridge & a privacy curtain between the bathroom area & sleeping area. The grounds are absolutely beautiful & the resort is so quiet. I mean quiet. Lots of pools & lots to do too. I understand wanting to save some money too. Dh went alone in May & loved POR. This next May we will be going with my sister, husband & niece & nephew. They want to stay at Pop again because they love it there. I guess it all depends what kind of atmosphere you want. With little kids, I think I might go with Pop. Just adults, POR all the way. I have great pics unfortunately haven't learned how to post those yet. Seaspray has excellent pictures of POR-from soup to nuts. Look up her posts. Or maybe she'll read this & post them for you!!

If you are the "I'm just going to sleep there so all I need is a bed" type then its probably not worth the difference. (BTW, how much of a $ difference?) OTOH, if you like to enjoy the surroundings and have a nice sit-down restaurant at your hotel, then you'll probably be happier at POR.

All boiled down it is only going to be about a $55 difference give or take a few bucks. We are figuring on POR simply because our parents are going with us (my sis and her family and mom and dad) and my mom wants a more "upscale" resort. In 2005 we stayed at Contemporary...her dream is to stay at GF, but that is SOOOOO out of our price range and, frankly, I wouldn't be comfortable there. Too upscale for me.

If it's only going to be $55 extra, go ahead and stay at POR. The rooms are bigger and you have an extra sink and a privacy curtain between the bathroom and the sleeping area. However, be warned that the buses pick up at POFQ first and, depending on what time you head to the parks, they can sometimes be very crowded. The atmosphere at POR is very relaxed and the resort is very quiet. Didn't eat at Boatrights because it seemed like they had the same stuff on the dinner menu as the food court had. An example: Boatrights had chicken fettucine for $18.99 and the food court has a build-your-own-pasta counter for $8.99 or something along those lines. I figure they probably have the same chicken and pasta and sauces since they're in the same building and I wouldn't pay extra $$ for the same food, so we ate in the food court while at the resort. Hope this helps!

We stayed at POR last year and loved it. The boat to DTD was really fun and my children enjoyed it. Lots to do at the resort and it is very peaceful and the grounds are beautiful. We had breakfast at Boatwrights and it was good. Our room was in the AB section.

Here is a site I bookmarked of a Dis member who took pictures of *everything* at POR!! LOL

It's really been helpful for myself and DH to see exactly what we are getting. :thumbsup2

Heheh!! I was just going to post some pics and a link to my POR page but you beat me to it!! I'm glad that so many people enjoy the pictures I take. I actually have fun taking the pictures, knowing how much *I* love to see people's pictures of the resorts myself. :3dglasses

Seaspray,

Your pictures are incredible. Even though we have most of the same pictures, we don't quite have all that you have. Oct. will be our 4th time at POR and it's like home to us. I love to try to convince people to stay there.

Your pictures told a better story than I could have. The resort is gorgeous and quiet, lush, comfy, homey. There aren't enough words.

I saved your website to my favorites so I could show DH! Thanks for sharing:goodvibes

well to bad your not going down between 7/29-9/29 07 of this year, because disney just came out with discount codes for por at 104 a night. the code is BUK and you call 1-407-w-disney to make reservations.

POR is so worth what ever more it is between the pop and there!! You will love it!! Im a deluxe girl who loves it!!

Seaspray!

Your pics are GREAT! From one Poly-POR lover to another...

I have to tell you that my daughters say they would rather stay at POR now than the POLY!!! They loved it THAT much and the only thing I can realllllly say I REEEEAAALLY missed about the POLY was the monorail and boat access to MK and the great flat screens (not a big deal) and the smell of the lobby at the POLY.

I would not (and in fact am not) hesitating to stay at POR again for my next TWO trips.

I have to agree, SeaSpray - your pictures have convinced me to stay at POR for next year's trip. We stayed there in 2003 and your pictures reminded me of how much I missed it.

Now I just have to break it to my 10-year-old nephew that we're staying there instead of AKL!!

i wish I can post my pictures but I just got a new computer and nothing is uploaded. Anywho.... POR is so worth it... IMO: I think its the best mod out there. There is so much going on... First and formost, the grounds, hotel & Service is second to none. The foodcourt is yummy, the restaurant is great, and the piano bar w/ the entertainment is wonderful. Besides that you have a boat going to dtd, you have a fishing pond for the boys, and you can book carriage rides at night. Its so well worth it... We didnt have any problems w/ the buses and the walk over to FQ was very pleasant. Everything about this hotel is well worth it. We stayed in the mansion style rooms but from what I hear having kids staying it seems most people like the AB rooms. Either way you cant go bad. NOT A BAD CHOICE AT ALL! :cloud9: :dance3:

The most important thing to remember is....not one picture I have ever seen of POR does it true justice. The resort is far more beautiful than can be captured in a picture. Trust all of us...you will LOVE it!

Thank you all so much for your advice and help. I think I am sold on POR!!! Those pictures were amazing Seaspray! Even dh (who doesn't get quite as excited as me about going) said they were awesome. I'm convinced...

I emailed the link to your pics to my sister and my mom so they can check them out. I am sure they will be sold on it too! I am so excited! I so wish I could go back this year - but since we just went in March I know that isn't going to fly with dh! LOL

Thank you Seaspray for your wonderful pictures! We've started discussing our second trip to WDW and thought we might like to stay at POR. Now that we've seen the pictures we know we want to stay there for sure! :thumbsup2

Hello Seaspray! I am usually a lurker only, but can't pass up this chance to tell you how much I have enjoyed your dining and trip reviews over the years. Getting this link is a treat!!! Any chance of you having taken outstanding pictures during a stay at POFQ, too? We're staying there at Christmas and are so excited!

It depends what you want. We have done both resorts and liked both. We preferred POR as it has a sit down restaurant and more grounds to talk a stroll through. Also it has the boat to DTD and the use of POFQ facilities.

Awesome report! I'm getting so excited about POR! Question: Can friends staying at another resort take the boat to DTD with us? Thanks!
