Is park hopper worth it?

The value of park hopping is totally subjective. Personally, I love it. I like the flexibility it gives, especially around dining and evening entertainment. On our first few trips, we did not use hoppers and it was fine, but then a few years back we starting adding hoppers and to me, it's one of those things you don't know you're missing until you've tried it. I can't imagine not touring without hoppers now.

We have always gotten the park hoppers but I have to admit there have been trips when I think we didn't need them. I figure we could spend a morning at AK (or wherever we wish), leave around 3 or so, spend some time at the pool and/or at Disney Springs to make it a complete day. It's very subjective.

We have a trip planned in January and unfortunately we had to cut our trip a day short. We will have 4 days and we purchased a five day MYW ticket. Could we use our extra day and go to 2 parks in one day? We would use 2 days worth of tickets but use them both on the same day

We used to get them. Not any more.

IMHO, save your money. Your 2 year old will tucker out. Bring her to the hotel and let him swim at the pool for a change of pace. Then back to the park if you need to. At that age, she will get a kick out of any park.

We won't pay extra for it when we have regular tickets, but enjoy the extra freedom when we get them with our APs. They do come in handy when the only CRT or BOG reservation we can get is on another park's EMH night or when we want to hit a few favs at another park before heading to MK on our last night. Other than that, we don't do a lot of hopping.

We have visited with PHs every trip but one where we had free tickets from a CM friend. I can't imagine touring WDW without them. Even on the days we didn't parkhop it still felt good knowing we could PH at any time in the day. We are also big fans of hitting one park early in the day and then eating dinner at Epcot that night. And we did this starting when DS was 4.

Nope.

Yes Yes and Yes......we would not consider a trip to Disney without PH tickets.

They give us the flexibility to start in one park in the morning without FP+ and then hop to another park in the afternoon after a break and have our 3 FP+ ready to go when the crowds are higher.

I don't think they are necessary to have a good trip. We almost always get them, but for me it would always depend upon the current vacation situation. Part of the reason we have gotten them for the past trip and the next trip is I got our tickets from Parksavers and at the time there was a significant savings compared to Disney...so it really was a no-brainer. We only plan to hop 1 day and did the same this past trip but I do like the freedom. If I was paying full Disney price, I'm not sure if I would do it or not. I would probably wait until I got there and needed it. We do take midday breaks and we have two young boys, but we usually go back to the same park in the evening.
