Just wondering if anyone knows if Palo brunch is back to self-service buffet on the Dream? Thanks!

It still wasn’t self-serve on the Fantasy last week, if that is helpful.

I guess I’d be surprised if they brought it back for the Dream but not her sister ship?

Thanks. I agree that DCL would probably make the change for both, rather than just one of the ships. Bummer - I have to try to book at midnight tonight, but I really don't want to do a-la-carte. I guess I get to sleep in since we aren't planning to book excursions on this trip, either.

It bummed us out, too. There’s just something about serving yourself that, for some unknown reason, I totally love…..

I just want the variety! Past photos of the buffet looked amazing. We have never been able to get Palo brunch and have always wanted to try it, but I guess it may not come back. It's less expensive for DCL to offer limited options than a huge buffet. Oh well.....

I didn't go to Palo last week on the Dream, but cruisers on my Facebook group reported that it was not. There was a thread here recently in which multiple cruisers were told it would never be coming back.

We did a 4-night on the Dream June 16rh and Palo Brunch was still table service only. Talked to the manager about it and let him know that we much preferred the buffet version. He said he was only a small cog in the wheel. I asked him to bring it up with his bosses.

I also made that a point in my post-cruise survey. Will anybody listen?

I highly doubt they are going to start listening anytime soon. History has proven that. LOL

I just booked the Dream for December and plan on doing Palo for brunch. I loved the brunch when I did it for the first time in 2019. I'm sure I will like the new brunch, but I also have a feeling I'm going to prefer the previous brunch buffet over the new rendition of Palo Brunch. I also wasn't aware of the new changes that Palo has done for dinner until I started playing on the Internet a couple of days ago and listened to Pete's podcast on both of his visits recently. I was so looking forward to dinner at Palo and to be honest, I don't think I'll go. In the words of Shania Twain, "That don't impress me much." I was hoping the Disney Park mentality of giving less and charging more would not carry over to DCL... Time will tell.

An employee who needs the job is unlikely to bring up complaints to his "bosses". It isn't really fair to pressure him to. If a customer has a policy complaint, then the customer should complain directly to the cruise line. As the manager pointed out, he has no power over this policy.

I understand his perspective, because as a teacher I hear parent complaints about state education policies all the time. I keep wishing they would complain directly to their state representatives/school board/state education association who make those policies, because the people who work at the schools, including the principal, have absolutely no power over state law. We are also not listened to by those in power. Parents' opinions have a lot more pull with officials than teachers' opinions in my state (non-union state). Similarly, DCL is going to pay a lot more mind to the complaints of customers than the complaints of their non-unionized cruise employees.

Complain to the people who can actually make the change. They still might choose not to make that change because they might have other priorities (cost-savings) that trump customer satisfaction. We shall see, but pressuring a Palo manager to pass up complaints isn't going to do any good that filling out the end of cruise survey wouldn't also do, without putting the manager in an awkward position.

I put in all my complaints in the survey I did after we returned home. I basically said that I wouldn’t go back unless they brought back the buffet. Might not do anything …but I felt better.

Sorry, I disagree. It most certainly is the front line employee's job to bring up issues with their bosses.

And yes, I did include my complaint in the survey as well.

We just got off the Wonder on Monday, our first cruise since the restart and had Palo brunch on the first sea day. Surprisingly, both my husband and I enjoyed the new set up. We felt the pace was more leisurely, we didn't leave stuffed but we still left satisfied. I missed the sticky buns and the caviar and felt there were definitely less desserts (my waist did not complain about that part lol). This is all to say we went in thinking this would be our last Palo brunch but we would definitely book it in future. And if it eventually went back to the buffet style I'd still book it ;-)
