Is Pal Mickey really 60. now???

I read that in one of the threads on this board. I was already cringing at the 50. price, even though this is a "must have". If this is the case, and this is going to be one of our most expensive souveniers, can we get it at the WOD with the DC discount?

Yes, it really went up to $60. and there is no discount that I know of.

Is is not available at the WOD.

Has Mickey been "improved" at all. I thought I heard that "updates" would be forthcoming, hence the higher price. Anyone know if this is PM 2.0?

What do you all see in Pal Mickey?

I looked at one, and just didn't find it amusing or entertaining. Maybe it's just me? Maybe I REALLY missed something special? But it just seemed to be something more to have to carry around and keep track of all day.

I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on what makes Pal Mickey worth getting.

I have never had nor seen a Pal Mickey, but after reading a trip report where the child had one, I'm not craving one. Kid's love stuff geared towards them and what better way to experience Disney than with your own Mickey Mouse filling you in on all the great stuff there. I think it would be great for my only child on vacation.

I was looking at them on my last trip and a cm even demonstrated one for me. I thought it would have been nice in the 25.00-40.00 range, but I couldn't see paying 50.00 for it. When I got home and researched it more, I thought it would be fun for my 6 year old son and decided to get him one on our next trip. But now I hear it is 60.00?! I think I can find him a better souvinear for 60.00.

On our last trip we decided to start with the rental. We normally do not buy alot of extra stuff when visiting WDW, but my DD10 wanted to try it. I was also concerned about lugging PM around the parks.

To my dismay it was alot of fun, and we ended up purchasing. Both my DD's 10 & 17 had a great time with PM, they loved all of the stories and information that he gives and when riding the buses they played games with him. He asks questions by using the right or left hand the kids would answer yes or no. He also tells jokes, and when we were in MK about 30 mins before a show in front of the castle he reminded us that there was going to be one even though we were no where near the castle.

For us he was worth it, we can bring him on future trips and there will be updates to the information gives.

There was also no problem carrying him around the parks, we just clipped him to our backpack where we could still feel him vibrate.

The only problem we had is which DD could press his hand when he had something to say.
